Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I have a bulb that I am trying to get out of a base. It's a midnight base if that means anything. Anyways, I can't seem to get it out. I don't feel like having the bulb explode and slice me open. Seems like a silly question, but any ideas?

I've had this problem so many times especially with centuries. The trick is grasp it lightly then gently turn it. Make sure your fingers aren't oily.
I have tried this. Even turned it the other way and succeeded to only make it tighter. Lol. I even tried jiggling it. Hell, I don't even thing pliers would work.
Well a few times I took a screw driver and shattered the bulb, then took it out with pliers but make sure its unplugged.
I might try doing that with it plugged in and me standing in a tub of water. Just in case you know. :D

I got ya :)
Try taking a plastic midnight cap and using it to turn out the bulb. Has never let me down.
Try what Matt said, it has never failed me. Use as little pressure as you can....hold the base upside down, wiggle the bulb and try to turn VERY lightly with just your finger tips.

Of course make sure the lamp is plugged in and you are standing in a full tub of water.....JK !!

I had my reservations about this, however I did it and amazingly the cap fits perfectly over the bulb to get it out. I was like WOOHOO!

Excellent advice! Tried the finger thing again, still no go. The cap did work. Thank you very much! :D
I had this problem just yesterday.... frustrates the heck out of a person. They make some stuff called bulb grease or socket grease.... that you put on the base of a light bulb before screwing it into whatever. So this little problem won't happen again. Just go to a hardware store and tell them what you need... its cheap.

Thanks for the info. However, can you imagine the looks you will get if you try to go to Lowe's and ask for "bulb grease". They have enough trouble telling me were the hammers are. Heaven forbid if I ask them a complex question. Lol.
In a pinch you can use petroleum jelly.... ...just a SMALL amount.
lol! Oh, you must go to the Lowes here! "Hammer....uh...wuz dat?"

PS Lemme know where they send you for bulb grease! It will either be the Lawnmower section, to the spring plants or down the road to the "adult bookstore."
Unless I know where it is and they have it, I don't go there or ask for stuff. Useless people there (most of them). Same with home depot. Even worse.
