Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

This is one of a pair of brass Crestworth lanterns that I am in the process of doing up ready to sell, any ideas what colour ways I should use? currently thinking red/clear. I have the original bottles but they are pretty ruined sadly.

Also: if your orange/clear is a screw-cap, add a few drops of yellow liquid food color until you get a nice golden yellow and call it a proper orange/yellow (from circa '72 or so on, what was sold as "orange lava, yellow liquid" switched to using the same dark blood-red lava as that sold as "red lava, clear liquid.")

Both the American copper Lanterns (Crestworth-made cases with US electrics and globes) as well as the later American brass-colored Lanterns came in the standard three 70s colors of red/yellow, red/clear and green/blue. In the 80s, they were red/clear only. In their last year or so, they were also in white/blue. Red/clear is appropriate.

While I believe they later came in several colors, the first Crestworth Astro Lanterns came in only two colors: "Port" and "Starboard," which I believe were red lava in pink liquid and green lava in blue-green liquid.

Thanks Guys for your opinions, I think I might stick with red/clear as I have 2 of these bottles spare. I put an orange and clear liquid one the other day and it looks surprisingly good. The rules of colour would suggest that greens would be the best sort of colour, haven't tried it yet but will give a green one a go before I sell them. I have to say I am a bit of a purist when it comes to colour ways and will always go for one colour with clear liquid as it shows off the shapes of the wax better and looks magic floating in mid air!

We have one of these lanterns with green liquid and red wax, it looks superb. But my preference is clear liquid, looks more stunning, as if the wax is floating in mid air without liquid. Another good colour is red wax, yellow liquid. But most colours will look great in these lanterns in my opinion.

Nice! Green wax/blue liquid always looks good with these lanterns, but you can never go wrong with red/clear too!
