Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

This puts a timeframe on the Florence Art Astro-Lite oil glitters: this catalog was 1969. Pictured are the gold Mediterranean-style model, brass small-globe double, and linear triple-globe, as well as two versions of their Kaleidolite-like Laff Lites, which contained a cardboard cylinder perforated with wacky patterns and a row of multi-color blinker bulbs.

I can imagine you had the same reaction as me when you saw that lamp on Ebay!  Pretty exciting stuff for Florence Art lovers.

Thanks Andy.  Can't wait for it to arrive.  Erin, I may have come off as a little brash.  I did read what is available on the main sites referencing them.  I am just curious if you as a collector had any more info.  Seems like you too a shine to the style.  Strangely, I even see mine in the catalog above.  I am going to dig around Chicago via phone and email and see if anyone knows more on the company.  I'll keep you posted.

Jonas, whom I haven't seen on here in ages, has the most knowledge of these lamps. I compiled that page, but the data is his. We don't have anything else here beyond that page. I know there's another collector out there (not on this site) who has a little more info on them.

Erin, I've often wondered about how closely the Mastercrafters clock with two glitter towers resembles the Florence Art range, your link shows an illustration with two variants of this clock - are they out of the Chicago plant, and does anyone know of differences between the two models?

I love your new double, Clark! Great green MF colour too...

Thanks Erin. I’m way past the link. I was just wondering if anyone had any more info on the company. I grew up outside Chicago. So close, I just want to find out more.

Several of us had these lamps. I'm not sure who still has them anymore. I have four of the single ones. There is a section here on the Florence Art lamps. Lemme get ya' a link. http://oozinggoo.ning.com/page/florence-arts-company
