I've been busy these times but came back yesterday to see a nice project by Zel about grande and lava Louie refill. I think I'll try soon to make me one of these. And soon some photos about the lunar I've just bought.
Thanks for your words! Here in Brazil we learn the basics of english language at the elementary and high school. These lessons are sufficient if one want learn by him reading magazines and books. When I was on the engineering graduation I was forced to learn more because nearly all of the technical literature is in English. The same happened when I started to use the INTERNET and I can say that I’m still learning how to read and write well in English. I also want tanks to your offer to read and make the correction on the translation and I will send it to you, however I didn’t discovered how to send a private message with a file attached at the oozing.com page! I should confess that until now the page format seems somewhat weird to me.
I’m finishing the translation of the article describing how to make a densimeter. Each time I read the text I found to be necessary make some modifications, after all the English is not my first language and I want make a text readable for anyone. In fact I think that would be a great idea if one member of the page can read the text and look for English errors before I put it on the page. I’m thinking place the text on the forum, however the better choice would be let in place where the people can download it.
I also found at yotube a video showing how to make a lava lamp using the perc/wax mix to the ooze and water/salt to the clear liquid and it really works! According to the experimenters they spent a whole week to reach the correct density of the liquids. The title of the video is How to Make a Real Lava Lamp

Please look it and let me know what you think about.
You are welcome! I’m amazed to be approved and now be a member of the Oozing goo community! I hope I can contribute sending my ideas and suggestions to the other members. In fact I think that I can do it as sooner I was thinking: As I want make by myself one lava lamp I’m searching on the web(by this way I found the Oozing goo) for recipes and tutorials about it. As you surely know, I found several recipes, some of them completely absurd, other very poisonous or dangerous and only few that can be successful like the ones using the mix of Perc/wax . All recipes based on this mix say that the correct balance of density of the substances is very important and one densimeter seems to be very necessary to have success. Well, the commercial densimeters are normally costly and I was not thinking to build one so I made a searching on the web and found easy-to-build device and it is not a fake! The text was written in portuguese (we speak Portuguese in Brazil) and I decide translate it to english intending share the information to the members of the community as son I was approved. If you wish receive the article, please let me know.
What attracted me to this site was a google search of Absolut lamp! Absolut lava lamp was a result. One of your members made one and I wanted to either buy one or make one myself! The latter would be the coolest, but may lead to my electrocution :-D Can you provide any assistance?

avatars as possible~!
hi! have been a lava enthusiast since the 70's. now have 14 lava lamps; prefer the starship base- have 4-5; have wizard bases-2 i think that are available for sale- 1 black, 1 silver. Also have the shark base- absolutley love it- have you seen the fluorescent lava? i collect weird lamps- have a hula lamp- NOT FOR SALE- and also vaseline glass whiuch does nicely with a black light always looking for more starship bases (the true LAVA brand only ). thanks happy oozing
Thanks - the photo was taken a few years ago - things have got way more out of hand since then. I guess I have 150+ lava lamps and rarer Crestworth pieces.
As for the W. German ceramics.... that's on a much, much bigger scale.
I have storage issues!
Thanks, Jerome! I look forward to the interactions. I'm particularly interested in chatting with anyone experimenting in larger scales (60" to 80" tall) - something you might see in the lobby of an office building or the like. I've seen some 30" lamps on stands. Given the tight design constraints (specific gravities, temperatures, etc), I'm curious if there are practical limits to the dimensions of a lava lamp. Has this topic received any previous interest among the members?
