Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Four plasma globes that I got from Aurora Plasma Design in 2017-2019. Two of them are running on drivers stolen from Smirnoff plasma displays and two of them are running on the original drivers.

Thanks Starmute. That's good to know. I'm hoping the pasty green gets er greener lol. I've tried photographing it but the colours just don't show true with my camera. My pics show vivid pink where it's more orangey pink. My camera won't pick up the green at all and seems to see a standard pink and blue plasma colour.

Christian - when I got it, it was more of a "flowing" effect but still quite similar to the Genesis specification. Over some thousands of hours of runtime the color shifted. "RGB"-ish mixtures like Aurora's Genesis and Bill Parker's Elegance of Becoming have a tendency to become greener over time if they are run for an extremely long time. They generally do not age if they're not being used, so if you don't want yours to change much then don't run it too often. I would be really interested to see your Genesis as well!

Arne - not *all* of them! None of these are halogenous mixtures which are actually usually my favorites. Aurora is pretty conservative about the techniques that they use in their globes but they still come out very good.

Can I ask if your Genesis was as green as that when you got it?  Mine doesn't give out much green and is more of a pasty turquoise but it hasn't been run much. I'm wondering if it is likely to get greener with age. Thanks.

I just bought an genesis junior. If I like it I'll buy one of the big ones. Maybe a phoenix rising. I've been thinking about buying a plasma globe for a while now and didn't know there were high quality ones for collectors so thanks for posting this.

This was a 1 second exposure, first of all. Anyway - the globes on the stands are a "broken in" Promethean Fire and an Emerald Fury. Both are running on drivers which are around double the frequency of typical plasma drivers - for both of those globes this improves the effect quite a lot. The Emerald Fury specifically is much more chaotic with a clearer image.

On the bottom are a quite old Genesis II which was run for many thousands of hours (which is why the effect is so dramatically different from what one would expect) and a Phoenix Rising. Nothing here is photoshopped.

AURORAS measure 22' tall and 15'' globe. I have two.  However your lamps look photo shopped.  I've taken a lot of plasma lamp photos and even posted the rare MAGMA Plasma Lamp 12'' globe and it looks nothing like your photo.  Nothing like the photo posted. Almost looks fake.  What am I missing here.   Especially the one in front of the window.  The glow looks totally off.

The Aurora globes are a bit pricey but they're really really great.

I wish they were available in the UK

Very cool. I didn't know they made ones this big. I'll have to get one.
