Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

After 3 weeks off n' on with this red one, I thought I had it working. Goo started to dome up nicely over the course of the first hour then "POOF" 3/4 of the wax headed north.
Goo formula: is 2 parts wax to 1 part brakleen and a touch of petroleum jelly
Liquid is 2 parts distilled water to 1 part Propylene Glycol with a few drops of dish detergent.
1 gal. container and I'm using a 40w Bulb.

Which way to go with what?? Thanks in advance.

I've had luck with dripping a bit of "perc" into such a problematic goo chamber.

Let the lamp cool completely, then pour out 3/4 of the master fluid, turn on the lamp and let it warm up completely, then add a few drops of perc from a glass jar, let that settle and then if need be, dribble a bit more into the wax. This will weigh down the goo and keep it from floating up to the top in a big heap. Just be patient and take your time.

Usually the wax that catches the perc drops to the bottom of the lamp immediately. If you have only 1/4 of the master fluid in the container, it should force the goo together as you dribble perc into the floaty goo.... I hope this helps and my explanation was clear enough... Once you play around with the density of the wax, you should be able to get it to where you want it...

Thanks, I will be doing this soon.

Of course if it gets too heavy you can counterbalance with glycerine or propylene glycol.
