While searching for new lava lamps I came across these Knock Off Fluidium looking lava lamps on AMAZON. I can see they're stepping up their lava lamp game but it hurts to see knock offs like the ones I posted earlier - see photos on the left of this discussion. I tried like hell to keep it all together but discussions section kept telling me photo was to large for MB but gave no other specifics so I downsized the photos of the knock offs and somehow was able to post but not with this…

I tried like hell to keep it all together but discussions section kept telling me photo was to large for MB but gave no other specifics so I downsized the photos of the knock offs and somehow was able to post but not with this discussion. I can see two photos I posted appeared. The lamps come in a bunch of colors. I want to original Mathmos Fluidium lamp not some cheap CHINA made knock offs and notice the liquids dirty. Maybe we'll see a knock off of the Colossus soon.

Just want to let everyone know that Walmart has three Double Play Lava Lamps left after discounting them from 119.00 to 57.00. They charge tax so to offset the tax choose Dec 14th as shipping date instead of 3 day free shipping and they Walmart will deduct almost 8.00 from your total so the price remains the same at checkout. They had five - I purchased two as soon as they went on sale. Great Deal! Cheapest price ever for one of these on the net and shipping was free.

But when i recieved it it was all cloudy :( First off i contacted lava light directly, which suggested i placed the lamp in a cold room for a few days.. after 3 days with no change i contacted then again, but now they do not respond.

I've attached some pictures, so that you can se what iam talking about. IF lava lite did respond and they suggested that i sent it back it would cost me another 120 usd, so i have no choice but to try and fix this my self.

Do you have any suggestions ? Can i fix it without opening it or do i have to change the water ?

I have a black 52oz. and it worked for about 7 months (well I should say it is still working fine), and now it has some small bits of goo stuck on the glass causing it to both look dirty when off and all the goo to go up the sides when its on taking away from the lava effect.

I purchased this 52oz red/clear lamp from a retailer, and it has never worked properly. For one thing, it came with a clear bulb that seemed to overheat it - even though I know the office where it was set up was kept at a steady 70 degrees - no direct sunlight, either. Then the lava began just sitting in the bottom of the globe, and not moving. It looked also like it was NOT adhering fully to the coil. I switched the bulb to a 40watt frosted, and it made no difference. The coil is clearly a cheap smaller-size coil typical of the China-made lamps, from what I have read here.

I contacted Lava Lite company directly, and to their credit, they shipped out a brand-new lamp the next day. It seems to work OK, except that it too, has a small coil, and would probably benefit flow-wise from having the coil stretched to fill the base of the bottle. Also - I was dismayed to find that the new lamp had a small scratch in the brushed metal finish near the very bottom of the base. I thanked Julie for her prompt service, but also sent her some photos from this site regarding the small coils and general rants about poor quality control contained here, along with these photos. I have not as yet received a response.

Can anyone give me advice on this/ reasons for why this globe doesn't work/ suggestions? Thanks in advance...
