Actually I have two since my niece trashed a pink glitter EXCALIBUR I'd given her for her apartment several years ago. I've read that the bottles for the LUNARS fit the EXCALIBURS. Anyone have a clue as to what size replacement globes or bottles I can use to create new lamps that will fit the EXCALIBUR lava lamps and if so where to buy? By the way if anyone wants the wax and coil from the Excalibur send me an address and I'll gladly send your way. I hate throwing away good used parts. No charge. I'll drop it off at USPS the next time I have to return a package in a week or so. I usually go every two weeks. I saved it since it was not at all damaged when the lamp hit floor and shattered. And - YES - I'm still whining about it because it was so preventable had I not been so careless when moving it. All it took was a second and it was gone for good making other EXCALIBURS around the globe even more valuable and rare now that there are two less globes in the world. As each globe gets destroyed the ones remaining become more valuable. SPENCERS only sold so many at each location when they were first introduced so there are not as many as some regular lava lamps. This from a manager who sold me the two I'd purchased several years ago. I think I'm down to three glitters now and three with Lava. Ok - time to wipe my eyes and move on.
Wave Machine Guy Trying to Restore Vinatge Lava Lamps.
Hello, everyone. My family just moved and our kids have been thrilled watching our lava lamp collection on display (our previous apartment didn't have any good places to put them), but one lamp in particular is giving us problems. The wife and I have an old tiki Hot Rock Lite from Spencer's, just like the one seen here:

As a fan of all things kitsch and tasteless, I can't get enough of tiki statues and the kids love the funny face on it, but the bottle makes it useless at this point. A good portion of wax is stuck the sides and what little wax is left will only bubble up to run along one side of the bottle and stay there until you turn it off, after which it just settles back to the bottom.

I'd really like to get this thing up and running again, but I don't know what kind of bottle would be best to replace it. We tried replacing it with one of the bottles from our standard lava lamps and it fit nicely enough, but my wife didn't like how the narrow top looked with the the broad cap. "It looks like a little man wearing an oversized hat. And not in a good way." Her words, not mine.

So any thoughts on what would work for this thing? I'd rather not hunt down another Hot Rock Lite as 1) it can be a pain getting some of these discontinued items and 2) it seems these things inevitably screw up in this manner anyway. I'd rather just get an official Lava Lite brand bottle that I know will work properly.
Using a Mathmos Bottle in an Old Lava Lite Basetag:oozinggoo.ning.com,2016-02-19:1566398:Topic:6107702016-02-19T21:21:52.265ZGushttps://oozinggoo.ning.com/profile/Gus198

Could I get a much cheaper replacement Mathmos bottle for the astro model and put it in my base? My concern is that it might not fit or the bulb might not work properly for it.

Hey guys,
I just tried to buy a turquoise astro replacement bottle with a polished silver stand and a polished silver cap on the Mathmos site. They emailed me back saying that the bottle is not suitable for the stand. What the heck? Is there a real difference in the heritage stand and the polished stand? I thought they were just different in terms of finishing Color no? Can someone clear this up for me? I am trying to cancel my order and just order a turquoise bottle with a black base; that is…
Hey guys,
I just tried to buy a turquoise astro replacement bottle with a polished silver stand and a polished silver cap on the Mathmos site. They emailed me back saying that the bottle is not suitable for the stand. What the heck? Is there a real difference in the heritage stand and the polished stand? I thought they were just different in terms of finishing Color no? Can someone clear this up for me? I am trying to cancel my order and just order a turquoise bottle with a black base; that is their heritage option. There is not an explanation as to why the polished base doesn't work with the turquoise, plum, or pink and clear bottle. Can anyone explain to me why they don't work with the polished silver base please?
Does anyone reading this have a Mathmos turquoise astro I could buy please? Making Replacement Capstag:oozinggoo.ning.com,2014-03-11:1566398:Topic:5207412014-03-11T04:54:04.061ZKemptonhttps://oozinggoo.ning.com/profile/Kempton

I am sure many of you have had problems with loosing caps, breaking caps, or just getting a lamp without a cap. Well i believe I have come up with a solution.

As some of you may know there is a technology called 3d printing. You make a 3d model on the computer in a number of programs (auto-cad, inventor, ext.). Well there are online sites where anyone can upload models for people to purchase (purchase a copy printed out) their models. The site takes some money and the rest goes to the creator.

Knowing this if we were to have someone create a cap replica in a 3d model program and then put it online we could then buy replacement caps for lamps. I would think the first ones made would be non-screw caps because they would be much easier to make. So we could make 8, 12, 20, 32, 52, and grande size caps for our lamps.

The main problem I see is finding someone who can successfully make the models. I have little experience in auto-cad, but am decent with inventor. If someone on here is in a career that uses these could start and online shop for us to make some extra money. The main online 3d printing site is called ShapeWays and offers users to have a number of options for the material of what is being printed. It can be many colors of plastic and nylon, silver, gold, aluminum, sandstone, and maybe some more things.

This is just an idea so give me some feedback below. I just think this would be great for the site since i see people trying to buy caps frequently.
Replacement Fiber Optic Spray Updatetag:oozinggoo.ning.com,2013-08-18:1566398:Topic:4774032013-08-18T17:45:15.948Zjmpenny32https://oozinggoo.ning.com/profile/jmpenny32

Well, I am going to give this another go. My first few attempts at reproducing these replacement sprays for the Fantasia lamps has been nothing but a nightmare! The process is lengthly and the art at shaping these is.....well....an art. There is no easy way of trimming them and that is where my road block has been from getting them rolled out for sale. That and this obnoxious "Slean coating" that was applied to the fibers during the manufacturing process. Apparently they coat the fibers in this coating to prevent them from "Fanning Out" during the spooling process.....welllll I kinda need them to do exactally that! "Fan Out" so I apparently need to soak the spray first in an alcohol solution to breakdown and remove this coating before I can attempt to trim them. I was doing this step before, I am just letting you all know the involvement of the process. So I contacted the sales rep where I got the fibers and he said that they can do a run of the fiber without this coating (slaps head and sighs) I said are you kidding me! I wish I had known that before hand..lol. Oh well, live and learn and this is surely a learning process.

I do have a new trimming stand that I will be able to work better around so I am hoping that will help. The spray you see soaking in alcohol is the super long 17" spray commonly seen on the Black Sunburst 4000 models....I will keep this updated as to all of the progress and even a short video on trimming these sprays so you can all see just how tedious this process is. I hope to have these for sale soon for those of you interested in purchasing a replacement spray, I apologize for any delays in getting these rolled out!
