Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Hi, i made the OOZE for my DIY lava lamp. But it keep sticking to the side of the glass when heated up. I tried many ways following most of the guides i can find on the internet. Even coat the inside of the glass with Car windshield protection. Can anyone help me to remedy this? Thanks.

Hello, try to add antifreeze, bit by bit, with the lamp cold and keep testing.
I´m new on this, but i read somewhere a similar case that was solved with antifreeze.
Hi, thanks for the reply. I 've tried using The "non-toxic" propylene glycol antifreeze, no luck. Just can't figure out why the ooze keeps sticking to the glass. Will ethylene glycol antifreeze make any difference?
hello, the antifreeze is "etilanglicol" (that is the name in spanish, i guess it should the same as ethylene glycol).

U might have seen it before. Now i'm left with the liquid n glass sticking problem... guess i have to wait for Oozing Goo to upload the past threads and posts from the old forum, maybe i can get some answers from there.

I had this problem for a while too. Although I fixed it, unfortunately I'm not sure exactly what did the trick, but I have four suggestions:
1) Adding more detergent may help, but will also change the flowing properties of the wax. (I only added two drops.)
2) Adding more antifreeze may help, but will also increase the density of the liquid (I'm using ethylene glycol).
3) It could be that the wax doesn't want to come off the glass, but once it does it won't reattach. I've found that pouring boiling water over the ouside of the bottle is an easy way to dislodge ooze that's stuck around the top. (But you need to be confident that the bottle is able to withstand the stress without cracking.)
4) Adding more perc may help, but will also increase the density of the ooze. (A combination of 2 and 4 might be a possibility?).

I solved a sticking problem in a troublesome Hot Rock lamp with a very small amount of liquid soap...Suave hair sampoo to be exact. The wax that was sticking...it wasn't much, came off the glass and the globe flows great.

I know this worked for me because I took the ooze and liquid out of the original Hot Rock globe and put them in a bottle I wanted to use. The wax stuck terribly. I cleaned the globe and tried again this time using a small amount of Suave shampoo and the wax doesn't stick and it still flows great.

Well, I go to this same topic to answer to your doubt to take the opportunity and in turn to get an An I have.
In order that the ooze does not stick to the bottle's walls, you should use ethylene glycol (antifreeze).We have always to add it being all cold.

According to the guides they are only some drops, but my confusion appears when there is than testing the ooze. Is the fact that we have to hold the percentages of 70 distilled water and 30 antifreeze for what has still to of the bottle? Or that is the specific gravity of the ooze only for testing?

When I was searching for recipes about how to make a lava lamps I found one recipe using perc/wax to ooze and brine to the clear liquid like the one at oozing goo page but the author claimed that adding some ethylene glycol (automotive antifreeze) to the brine avoids the ooze stick at the bottle walls. The recipe was written in spanish and as my language is portuguese (we speak portuguese in Brazil and NOT spanish like the Hollywood movies says). Portuguese and spanish are similar so I was able to understand the recipe. If you wish I can translate the recipe to english and send it to you.
