Found oozinggoo.com when I was looking for ways to repair the Grande I picked up at CostCo a few years ago. It's one of the Chinese made ones that has gone extremely cloudy and ceased to flow (going to try replacing the fluid one of these weekends).
It was here that I found out about really big Lava lamps. I was bowled over by videos of the Colossus lamps and really want to see if I could get one, I couldn't find them available anywhere so I wrote LavaLite. I wanted to let this group know what I got this from Lava Lite today:
We have a special promo on the Colossus for serious buyers. This will be the last time the Colossus will be seen.
Please see attached promo sheet with pricing included.
If you are interested please contact on my direct line at 630-496-6663.

Sadly these prices are outside of my discretionary funds, even though they include shipping. I post it in hopes that someone here may be interested.

I just got off the phone with Susan, and they are very limited. She said they relooked at the bulb issue, and it can use the 250 watt bulb, instead of the 200 watt, that you couldn't get. She said that you can get the 250 watt, and use it with the supplied dimmer. Also, she said that the ones they are selling, were US made, which I thought was suprising. She said they tested all of them, and they are in excellent operating condition. It got the one with the table. I look forward to owning this lamp!
that's good to hear. please post photos/videos when you get it!
Yes, please share how the experience goes.
I'm living vicariously through YOU, dave. :p I could never afford that right now!
I will definitley post pictures of it! I have been selling off 90% of my collection (I'm only keeping my Giants), so this will be perfect! I would rather have the holy grail, then several smaller ones. I know an Imperial is an impossible find, so this is the next best thing. I knew I had to have one as soon as I saw this post, thanks Charlie! It's a lot of money, but I'll worry about that later. I just want it to work, and be awesome!
To further Dave's update, I also just got off the phone with Susan and you can get the bulbs at Home Depot. The dimmer on the Colossus allows for using a higher wattage bulb.
Decisions decisions....wish I could afford 2
Loren, I'm not sure I can afford it either, but...! It's a lamp that must be had.
And Jim, thanks for confirming what I said. It's good to have another set of ears confirming what was said. This is totally awesome!
so Jim, is it cheaper if we come fetch it ourself?
