I use this small 6'' gadget called a HAMMER Beer Bottle CAPPER that I came upon one day whilst researching bottle cappers. The usual manual cappers have a limit as to the height and bottle neck width which is why I decided to find something else. The bottle I wanted to cap was too tall for the manual capper and the neck was too thick to fit properly so out went the manual capper.
I needed something that was more universal and here comes the Hammer Beer Bottle Capper. It's a UK made product so look on Amazon UK for 9.99 or other sites. It's awesome. All you do is place the bottle cap new or used on the top of the bottle - place the Hammer Capper side that best fits the width of the bottle (hammer capper has two sides) so it can fit almost any size bottle neck. Place the beer cap over the bottle then place the Hammer Capper over the top of the cap and bottle and once placed you simply hammer the cap back on. I've used it to reseal all types of bottles that require a cap even used caps and it's worked flawlessly every time. It's not that expensive either you can view a video of why and how to use the capper on you tube - the videos titled - Using a bottle capper. I've never once shattered a bottle from hitting too hard but don't. You'll know how much pound to apply to the hammer once you use the Hammer Capper one time. It's that easy. I use it all the time to place the caps on beer I've not finished or soda pops when I only want half the bottle. I keep it in a kitchen drawer so it's readily available whenever needed on the fly. I've also used it to seal many a glitter or lava lamps. It comes in a nice red color.
