<p>Claude - this lamp depends on multiple contacts to pass on the drive traction from the various elements, as you know.</p>
<p>But you shouldn't have any sound, (even with super-sensitive hearing)... it might be that one or more of the contact points might need adjusting very slightly...</p>
<p>If it's the motor, there's an oil produced on your side of the pond called Liquid Bearings that is brilliant on all this kit.</p>
<p>Btw, I swapped the bulb in mine from a 25w pygmy to a 7w version -…</p>
