Give it a slight twist to break it loose in case it's stuck then pull up on the globe. Seriously... It won't break unless you are using your superman strength.

I just went through this process with a 32 oz blue/white globe from a "lavalamp" phone I picked up at a yard sale (5 dollars, thank you very much, along with a lavender/white swirl base with lavender/white globe, for ONE dollar. lol). Just as you suggested, Bohdan, I tilted the globe and eventually turned it upside down. One thing to be careful of, when the plug of solid lava gives, you may have an air bubble rush up to the :"bottom" (I did). I let the bottle cool for about 12 hours and then…

The bottom of the top layer of wax looked a little wet, like it wanted to flow...but it still wouldn't drop down with the rest of the wax. The wax on the bottom isn't flowing at all. Should I leave the towel on them for a longer period of time?
