soak the coil in hot wax before you put it in the lamp, this seems to "prime" it and make the wax stick to it easily once it's in the bottle.

Arne said:

We have been working on mixing up some lights for over a full year now. No joke, I mixed up over thirty last year. Did the gasoline or sodium trick work and keep working? Sounds like basically the vessel is being stripped clean and then being rinsed with the soap water, leaving a film. I have one light that ran for a month and now its sticking. Do any of you know of any other formulas out there? We are using a lab grade ethylene glycol with lab grade de-ionized water 30/70% mix. Our ooze is Gulf wax / perc, brake clean 66/33% mix. I've had more than a half dozen run really well. I bring them into the proper gravity with the salt, about 6-7 tea spoons. And about 5 drops of free and clear dish soap. They seem to fizzle out or start sticking over time. I'm shooting for a commercial grade, long running mixture. Any other recipes out there....been looking. Cheers all :)

I better post it in a new discussion, so as not to hi-jack Autumn's "inside" globe cleaning discussion!!

Under what circumstances should you bake your globe after cleaning?

Innotic, it was under a discussion Deb posted called "Polishing Your Globes," and I just replied to it to bump it up for you. No pics though, but a good description! Sorry, Autumn, for hi-jacking, but this is off your discussion now!
