Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

On the latest Mathmos blog, they say they are releasing a new lamp in the autumn. What are your thoughts? Do any of you have any information?

I am hoping that it's a larger lamp like the lunar, but knowing Mathmos it will be another Neo variant or use the astro bottle.

Let's at least hope we get some new interesting colourways as the current range is getting a bit stagnant now.

Well, they do still make Lunar bottles, so that's certainly not impossible.

Could you link to the post? I don't see anything about a new lamp.

Hi there. Just an update.

On the Mathmos website lava lamps page you can now select Giant lava lamps. Then on the next page, theres coming soon! In bright red. Now a few weeks ago on their Instagram page they showed a picture of three lunar's and asked "would you like to see a giant lava lamp back in our range?"

Could this be the return of the Lunar? Oh lord I do hope so. If not so intrigued to see what this big lamp will be. And I will definitely be buying one.

Any thoughts or facts anyone?

If it is a large Lunar globe based lamp I hope it is a revised style not just an exact reissue.   This is good news though.

Perhaps a truly giant lamp with a Princess sized globe?  A revised and reissued Princess sized lamp would be too much to hope for, but it is possible.

Instagram now has the first teaser picture of the new lamp. Looks a bit like a lunar leg? Maybe? Sorry dunno how to link but its linked from the official website. Getting excited now but hope it's not too pricey!

Mr GooLamp has done that now :-)

Johnny,

I know what you mean but I was referring to a completely different style of lamp that uses that size globe but does not look like a Rocket, etc.  So a reissue of the Lunar or “Princess” is not what I want to see Mathmos do.  I would like something large, but have a fresh, new style.

Any pictures outside of Instagram, for those of us who refuse to install Facebook-owned apps?

I know what ya mean Critter, new bottle shape, hent been nothing since the fluidum, and cant make out why they dont re-launch jet bottles they could make a killing with all the old lamps still about that used that bottle

Haha I can not understand this too.
The Bottle style will not be protected 100%, as it is just a cylinder :-)
They had the money to get new bottle tools done for astro and baby (new screw cap and the "lip"), so this should not be the problem. And they could say, that they can offer replacement bottles for ALL Lamps they have ever sold...

  • I don't understand why they don't come out with their own version of the grande.

Looks like more than one lamp release. Careful research has shown something called the Pod and Pod +. These are both tealight lamps. The website listings also show a gap for a giant lava lamp. Fingers crossed.

The Pod lamps seem interesting but I would rather have a mains powered lamp than rely on candles which I think can be dangerous. At least hopefully we might just yet get some new colours at long last.

Tuesday will tell as this is the official release date for one of the Lamps.
