Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Hi all, I have cleaned out two lava lamps and am starting anew. I have bought some wax and some dye off Ebay and need to know what else apart from distilled water and salt I need to add to get things moving (literally). I tried to add a photo but it is too big to upload. Another question, I have a copper base/top lamp and the wax is runny, anyone know why? as the other two were solid wax I had to melt to get out of the lamps. Thanks in advance for any help given.

theres quite a few topics on here of making home made lava etc ive never tried it, alot of people buy a kit from someone in the u.s, as for the copper lamp without a photo i cant say for sure but think its a british cheap 70s lamp "satalite" hunter lamp they used a runny wax when they first came out,  theres a guy on here called Eliot lee's hes a hunter lamp expert so may be able to give you advise etc

You can try making your own lava lamp at home but it won't be the same as the original or even close. The closest I've ever come to the real thing is using Magma Goo kits.  You need a lot more than a globe , wax and water.  Trust me if the recipe was available here a lot of folks would be making their own custom lamps but to date there are no tried and true recipes here.  Good luck with your own concoction.

Thankyou
