Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Hi,

there is some black light E27 75W and E14 40W bulbs available. (it could be used for a Lunar and a Jet for exemple)

I know the black light bulbs are not the real black light as the neon tubes, but I would like to see what effect I can get on some of my lamps, but I read they run much hotter because of the dark paint on them.

Anyone running them? Any risks of cracking a globe?

Thanks

I would say it is OK with the E14, I didn't notice too much heat, the problem is that is too dark.

Tried with the green/blue combo http://oozinggoo.ning.com/photo/astro-green-uv

on this picture there is also another blacklight lamp over the globe...

Have you got a pic with the bulb only?

Maybe a lamp with a clear liquid will be better?

I run my Grande Gookit on a 75 watt black light bulb, never had an issue. They will put off the roughly the same amount of heat as a similar wattage bulb.

Thanks.

I just checked your pictures, and indeed, this is not a real UV light.

The effect is still interesting though.

I just tried it on a glitter jet bottle.

The bottom of the bottle is very hot (you can burn your finger on it).

How long did you leave your lamp on?

I'm affraid of breaking it.

PS: you're right: no much light from this bulb.
