Keep in mind that the surf will affect the longevity of the wax. The more surf the shorter the lifespan of the wax as it does facilitate the break down of the wax. I do understand your fascination with it though.

You don't want an inline dimmer. You want one that you just plug the lamp into, then plug the dimmer into the wall outlet. Here is what I use:

One man's "Too much" is another man's "Poifect". :D

I maintain a certain skepticism only because (again) Kim @ Magma insists otherwise. But it's so cool... it makes me want to experiment.

"If you're using -our- wax, the ONLY purpose of the surfactant is to keep the wax from sticking to the glass. Our wax will perform (blob/float/sink) just fine with -pure- H2O." And I have found that to be true so far.

The 'variable' in this case is... I'm using old school lavalite wax, which I've found behaves quite differently than Magma goo. Ohhh... one other thing... I -think- I mixed in a small amount of tap water, I believe I did this because of the 'how to' video I saw here. Maybe the minerals in the water did it.

My point is: I'd sure like to know. I talked with a lavalite lady in Chicago once (very nice), but she made it sound like the whole deal was a state secret.... Patented wax. Patented -fluid- (not water). Impossible to replicate properly. :D
