Hi all.
I have managed to obtain a working Crestworth Galaxy Fiber Optic lamp but would appreciate some advice from someone with experience of workings as it need a little TLC.
Can anyone help with the following:
I have the glass colour wheel but it is broken, any one know how to find a replacement or best way to make one.
What is the best polish for the dome.
Which way should the fan operate, blow up or suck down.
Anyone know of a spare stand or can provide dimensions so I can make one out of perspex
All assistance appreciated
Thanks
Bob.
PS also have an aroma light but its missing the diffuser top, any one have a spare or need the base and glass?

From experience, Novus polish works wonders for removing scratches from the dome; it made my Dad's one look like new!
I beleive the fan blows into the dome from memory but i could be wrong on that one.
Good luck on restoring your Galaxy!

hi bob ( are u the same bob ) on FB ? in a band? anyway for the glass colour wheel id look on the web / or local glass cutters, i had a disc cut many years ago for the crystalite, just tell them it needs to be heat proof due to the bulb, ideally take the broken disc with ya so they can measure etc, theres bound to be places on the web as well

Hi Jonny & Callum.
Thank you both for your advice.
Not sure how to message you both direct as still finding my way around the site.
Jonny, I'm 70 so my band days were over in the 60s/70's
Could not find any spares on the internet and going to glass cutters with a template and buying some glass paint.
Callum
Ill try the novus polish, luckily the scratches are only very light and do not show in dark, also told to try tooth paste or UPVC polish, I will try round the back on a small area.
Have now tried the fan both ways round and adjusted the blades but not a lot of movement.
Again thanks both.

The Lamp Caretaker
The fan blows air out of the lamp to keep it cool. If it blew the air into the lamp the glass fibers would sway and break. This is the reason the blades of the fan are in the down position so it sucks the air out of the lamp. Fantasia fiber optic lamps do the same thing. They blow air out of the chrome ball to keep the lamp cool otherwise the lamp within would keep overheating and blow. If you dig around archives on this site there's a guy who makes new discs for these types of lamps. I would try to find him on this site and send him a message. On occasion he appears on eBay selling his replacement discs. He even makes custom discs with funky colors. Anything you want.
