Hey Johnny is the uv light your using for the white goo lamp photos on the outside or is the uv light actually the bulb your using to heat the lamp? And if so what size, and watts etc is it?
Interesting. I was looking at ceramic heaters myself.

Have you tried infrared heat lamps like this:
http://www.avifauna.dk/reptizoo-infrarød-varmepære-100w-p-9769.html
As far as I understand that is what turkishcoffee has used on the very bottom of page 2 in this thread "Grande Orange Black light reactant lava, with a 100 watt red heat bulb under with a black light next to it."
I am curious to know what the difference is between a infrared heat lamp and a standard red lamp.
It must look really cool with the ceramic heater during the daytime even without UV lighting applied.
Just to make sure I was told right, I ordered a kit ( over the phone ) also about 2 weeks ago, I'm ok with the delay, but I was told that all the goo kits where "blacklight reactive " this is right correct ?
Wayne,
I saw your order and will process it asap. The standard kit does not come with the black light colors but we like to take care of the oozing goo family so I will throw in a black light pack for you.
I can give you the clear black light reflective instead of the colored if that is what you would like to do. Then you just add it in and it will glow black light blue. It works best with like colors.
Wayne,
With the clear black light pack I am gonna give you, it will change any color to black light blue when a black light is applied. It works best with like colors (green, blue, yellow). It will slightly change the hue of the original color when the black light is not on it.
Mark,
It will be up tonight, I promise. I have been spending all day yesterday and today mixing up color packs and goo. Before I left we unloaded all of our product to vendors we are working with.
Hey everyone,
We have finally completed our first model with our complete LED package. It is one of our 7 foot tall, 23 gallon MT270's. This is the coolest lamp in the world. It changes red, orange, yellow, light green, green, blue, light blue, purple, and magenta. All with the push of a button.
I will post a video in the next couple days... I cannot stress how amazing this lamp is.
Goo kits will now come with a replacement coil specifically designed for "lava" motion lamps. I have tested many different coils and soon we will offer a separate 3 pack of coils for replacements. It will come with a grande coil, a 32oz coil and a mid size coil.
Just went to the "gookits" site loving that you guys have added the option to buy just the colors, this is great. Love the Magma products ! But I have found my first complaint I really wanted to order some "black light green", ( still have some goo left over from my kit ) but it says it cost 10 bucks to ship ! Wow unless im missing something.... the colors still come in the little plastic dish things right? If so you should be close to being able to just stick em in a envelope and stick a stamp on it lol $10 for shipping seems a little high for that perticular product.
Wayne,
Thank you for pointing that out for me. In paypal shipping calculates automatically off of quantity. When I added the options I forgot to edit the shipping details for each individual option. Will be fixed by the end of the day.
Obviously must be an alternative heating method. I've seen ceramic heating units on eBay for a few dollars. My car has one for the cup holder.
I think the LED lights are a great idea for this, and I think they'll work very well with Magma Towers goo. It has a transparency that will really shine with the LED illumination. I think this sounds like a great product.
Richard: I've ordered a goo kit and when it arrives, I'll be refilling a bottle with my two sons. I'll post photos from how it goes and let you know how easy it is.
Metallic has not been perfected yet. Still testing different formulas. My ultimate goal is to make a metallic that looks like the bad guy in Terminator 2.
A Surfactant changes the surface tension of the water and affects the flow of the lava. If you use too much it gets floopy and stringy, too little and it doesn't flow well at all. At least that's been my experience with surfactants, I prefer not to use soap it causes too much emulsification. I've wondered if the Lava Louie kit surfactant is a soap, but I doubt it.
Hey Johnny, I'm looking to score one or two of your kits for a grande and an astro bottle - do you know if your goo will work with the existing grande coil or should I just ditch that along with the rest of the crap that's currently in that bottle?
I plan on posting my thoughts and how things go when I get the kit. I'll put photos on here too. When I get a refill done and working I'll send you a note.
If anyone gets creative ideas on how the kit would be easier for you please let me know. We are at a unique advantage to one another. We are open to all criticism.
I haven't had a kit before but I would say the ordering process would be better if you had step by step ordering. You could choose the color, then on the next step you could choose the size/ amount, etc. With each page having a description and picture of what you are choosing.
There is just one kit. It comes with the goo (enough to do a Grande I believe, or a bunch of smaller ones), and three colours that you can mix any colour you want. This colours the wax to the desired shade and intensity. The only thing you need to add is distilled water. It's a one-product shopping deal!
I'm wondering if the black light white color pack has a limited life span?
The white Louie goo in my Giant stopped "fluorescing" within a week of adding a full pack of your black light white color.
Quisp,
We haven't had any problems with it. I have a black light white lamp in our lab that has been running 24/7 for about 3 months and still works. Let me talk to Louie and see if there is anything that would cause that.
Thanks for the quick reply back. I appreciate it.
Yeah, I thought it was strange when that "bluish" tone disappeared from the white goo after just a few days of use. Everything else seems to be flowing OK, so I'm not sure what could have happened...
Keep me posted...:)
Doc,
We still have a lot of testing to do. We want to make sure it just won't break down after a couple months of running. I will keep you all posted on a release date when we get closer to the end of our testing.
