Silicone made the original gasket leak more...???? what part is silicone ?
Also do a google search for cast acrylic. Cast is the only kind that is really clear!
The original gasket was a rubber compond, the Liquid nails silicone forced it to disintergrate further. Yes, cast is the way to go. I hope no one has to know how much hazing their wave REALLY has, when empty! YIKES!
Nice wave machine! I have quickly moved up to 13 Lava Lamps from zero. I am still scouring craigs' list, Kijiji, and the streets of Toronto looking for some Wave Machines. My perseverance will pay off, I'm certain. Once we have completed decorating the bar I will post some pictures.
New member here. Why is no one producing these wave machines now? It appears as if a successor company to Lava Simplex produced these for a brief time in a newer (rounder) form. A few online lava machine sale companies have these newer versions in their products lineup, but indicate they are sold out, and/or they are no longer in production. They are in tremendous demand on eBay and Craigslist. Usually there are none to be found on those sites. Bring me up to speed please if you can...
Just a guess but in all my reseach i've found that wave's use silicone oil, and cast acrylic plastic. Well silicone oil is wicked expensive ( to the tune of 50 dollars a gallon for the cheapest i've found ) and cast plastic is high as hell to! Now with that being said the cost to make one of these and sell it cheap in a time when lava lite sells lava lamps at walmart for 12 bucks it's hard to make a wave that is cheap to produce and sell at low cost when your company is know for selling cheap priced stuff. It's just a conflict of interest to make something that cost 20 - 30 dollars to make and sell it for 60 -70 when your main product is made in china at a cost of 12 dollars on a american shelf. Anyone else got a theory?
I tend to agree with what wayne says but in light of the recent spike in demand for these products, you would think that someone would step up to fill the demand. Cleary, there are several of us around that would pay the price to get a good looking wave machine. Then again how many is enough to warrant setting up production, distribution etc.. All I know is that I am keeping my eyes open, watching Craig's List, EBay & Kijiji until I find one.
Steve - Did you get my comment about the Bud Light wave machine now on eBay? It's a real Lava Simplex. If you don't have one, this one would be perfect for a bar.
I could be wrong but ther where five colors?? i have a blue and purple and long time ago i had a fuschia colored one ( sold it like a dumb a** ) and yes it was way diffrent in color than the purple
Hi Mark I was unable to find that on ebay. Thanks for the opportunity.
Does this place rightonlavalamps really exist? I tried their website but nothing on it seems to work. If they are for real do they have wave machines.
By the way, we are close to finishing the renos on the bar. Once they have been completed, I will post some pics. We have twelve of the Grande Lava brand lamps, one rocket lamp and one lightening lamp, all ready to be put into action. I wanted to get a few of the Tranquil Tide Machines and a few of the Colossus Lava lamps but the tide machines cannot be found and the Colossus lamps are not sold in Canada. We will make do with what we have and build from there. Keep your eyes open for pics in the next couple of weeks.
