I began to collect Mathmos lamps a few months ago. My son, aged 6, brought home a made in china lava lamp :-( As I always have loved lava lamps, I told him that I would buy a "real" one... Since then I bought a lot of lamps. My favorites are Jets and Glitterballs. I love jetstreams too...
My First Lava Lamp was:
The first Mathmos I bought was a Black Jet, clear liquid, red wax; and that was it, I was contaminated by lava madness.
I am a newcomer, so I know almost nothing about lava lamps. I love yours. Can you please tell me - what is the style you have in your photos #2, #7 and #9. Are these called glitterballs and do they come in different colors? Where do you get them? Any info you can share would be appreciated. Thanks a lot for your help!

Hey Cybill
I collect Mathmos too, and I also love jets! I started on the same wax/base colour combos. I have green, purple, orange & yellow.
Just got a black base red/clear one and it's neat! now all I need is white base blue/blue bottle.
Now my fella has got the lava bug but he likes Telstars, so I now have 2 of those, one being a millenium edition.
Just got a lunar, and absolutley love it!
Like your pics, and am jealous of your jetstreams!
happy hunting :)
Thanks so very much for the information about the glitterballs. I will have to see if I can get one from here in the USA, and if not, I guess I can get one from the UK. Is that where you got yours from? Or does Mathmos have a retail store or someplace in Europe that carries/sells them? You do have a lovely collection and great photos - thanks again very much for sharing!!!
Best,
Jen P.
I have done some searching here in the USA, and I can't find a retail outlet that has these glitterballs. I am mostly interested in finding the silver one with silver/grey lava. If you bought these at a store or online, I would very much appreciate it if you could let me know where it was and/or an email address or phone number. Thanks.
