I didnt realize there were other people out there like me who are so mesmerized by Lava Lamps.
What a great adiction to have!!!!!!!!!!
Where I Live:
In a small town, on a short street
My First Lava Lamp was:
Was a hand me down from my grandma. I remember I was seven watching the Partridge Family, and the Lava Lamp, on top of the television at the same time. I was hooked! I was given that very same lave lamp sixteen years later. It probably worked for another ten, then sputterd out. A family heirlom of sorts. Gold finish, and classic red wax. Back then I dont remember them having the colored oil. I started buying them for my boys when they entered Jr. High. I always seemed to take them over. They are just so relaxing, and I enjoy them so much. I just ordered my first "Grande". Should be here in a few short days. The Colossus is next on my list. Everyone thinks Im crazy.................
Gookit wax will run transparent for the first few cycles and eventually turn more opaque and solid looking the more it's cycled. And the wax naturally being white in color, the overall color will lighten for sure when it turns solid looking. That's why i tell everyone to add color slowly over the course of a couple days. Also when the lamp is cold and not running the color of the wax will appear different in color then it does when running so dont let that fool you. Just continue to add dye in small amounts until its the color you want. If you over do it, it cant be undone :( hope this helps.
and you'll know when you need a dimmer when your lamp starts to break up into small blobs, when flowing, after being on for a long period of time. Adding a dimmer will reduce the heat causing the wax to slow down more and be more long and stretchy which is usually a preference for most.
Dr. WHAT?!
you dont need to be exact with the surf. Just make sure you use a dimmer on the base, gooktis are very controllable with a dimmer.
