Professionally, I specialize in architectural rendering, visualization, graphics, and design. For hobbies, you can do a lot with a laser cutter, 3D printer, and a few woodworking tools in the garage. I've built a suitcase with an arcade inside, night vision goggles, collect mech watches (even built a few of those), and now design my own lava lamps.

USSR 'Rocket' Lava Lamp. I love the interesting design with the top/bottom connected with support rods, angular feet (like a lunar lander), and straight form.

    Hey I just read that you built a suitcase with an arcade inside. Vey Cool! What hardware did you use? For years I had the idea of buildin an N64 into a suitcase of the size made to fit vinyl lp's inside and I had a hard time finding a monitor which would fit inside, not cost much and run on 12 volts or less. In the end I sold the n64 with all the games but I sort of regret it.
