I had a Coachman, red/clear, in 1974, when I was 12 years old. I remember it dearly, and have another now to remember it by. A few others have been accumulated since, but none will ever capture the patterns that lamp played on my ceiling as a kid.
My Collection Includes this many Lava Lamps:

My Favorite Lava Lamp is:
Red Clear Coach
Red Clear Tower
Now working on 48" Orange Clear Lava Tower....
Thx for getting back to me and solving the mystery. Knew I saw a thread about this quite some time ago and could not find it to follow up. Had planned to ask you a couple of questions re: how you did the wiring, but solved the dilemma myself last night.
Todd, the issue of wiring our lamps has come up again. I had wanted to run the wires through a hole with a grommet in the wall to the other side where I would mount a strip with a breaker. My son wants to wire. I posted a discussion about the matter, and am getting feedback strongly against wiring. Since you have done it, I would appreciate any insight. Just follow my page to the discussion. Thank you!
Thanks for the thoughts! What you describe is nearly what I had in mind. I've opted for the plug with a breaker plugged into a timer. Seemed to solved the issue of the lamps not being turned off, as well as left flexibility for the future since he is an older teen. Thank you again -- Holly
