Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Two Heritage Grandes and one Heritage Century

The flow on the Century is not good. Also, wax stuck up above the liquid line. You know the story on the Grandes though. ;)

We'll see. I just want to return it. It's just not worth $50. I can get Neons at Spencer's that are less than half the cost and they work better right out of the box.

Erin, mine didn't work that well with the regular bulb, that's why I asked. I didn't want to spend any more money on my lamp either but I really wanted to see if the reflector bulb made a difference and the bulbs were only 5 bucks for 2 so I figured what the heck. I like the lamp and I think I'll end up keeping it. If only we'd known it needed a different bulb in the beginning we could have avoided the whole stuck wax thing to begin with.

No, I do not have the reflector bulb in the Century. I'm not going to spend any more money on this lamp, so I'm waiting for the bulb from Lava Lite. I hope the wax at the very top comes down (above the liquid line), but I don't see that happening.

Thanks for the info David!

Erin do you halve the reflector bulb in your Century?

I got tired of waiting for LL to send me one so I picked up a 2 pack at Walmart yesterday so I could run it this weekend. The reflector bulb seems to have made the difference and my lamp is working good today with the new bulb. I can't comment on the flow because I'm a newbie but it's definitely nicer than the Menards lamp I have.

Most all the wax I had stuck in the top has come down now that the lamp is getting hot enough and all that's left are the film of wax stuck to the glass - maybe eventually that will wear off.

Yeah, it does. But wow, the flow is so boring. I wanted to like this lamp, but the flow just kills is.

Love this. I wish the centuries flowed better; it's my favorite design. I was really looking forward to getting them. Grandes are a grand slam though!

I don't think those 40W reflector bulbs will work either.  I've been using a 60W just to get the wax to melt completely.   If it don't work with that new bulb, mine's more than likely going back too.

The Century WOULD be cool if the globe was good. But without that, it's not worth purchasing. I'm still fairly confident I'll send mine back.

Those magical Grandes......love em.   Great picture, Erin, they look wonderful.  The Century is really a nice lamp, just wish it would flow correctly.
