Merry Christmas! and it's almost the end of the year.

Looking back at my old post, it's been a while and lots of things happened.

Where did I like lava lamps? Back then when I was a child I was in a phase being obsessed with oil clocks/timers. Little bright translucent blobs going up and down in a clear enclosed container. Brilliant little things, but they don't last. Lava lamps is the next closest thing...

I started off by acquiring a test tube lava lamp (groove tube copy) which I loved. It was clear, and it works well. I refilled it and love the lamp for what it is. I ended up shattering it when heating it over the pan.

What I didn't know that was the last one stock on the shop.

Back then there wasn't a lot of lava lamps, it was a novelty. I spent years here and there trying to grab a similar copy, but it wasn't easy to find. A lot was discontinued. And so the hunt fades away.

I must admit, for a long time, I never put priority for a lava lamp. I love them, but as much, it is still a novelty. A lovely one. I can live without it, or so I think. So it becomes this precious memory that lit a tiny corner at the back of my mind.

I remembered oogling the O1 so much. It was already too late by then even, but there was a bottle replacement still around. I managed to ordered a blue turquoise one. Heck, I didn't even have an O1. but it was just so good!

In the end the parcel never came. It it were, it would be my first mathmos.

Over the years inbetween I acquired a few unbranded lamps. Some shattered in refilling experiments. Some had rusted coil. I have a fond memory of them, I remembered the that those cheap blue ones that turn purple at the base. A tiny offbrand yellow lamp that's has rather translucent base. It was such a happy little lamp. I didn't realize it was quite rare and yellow/transparent is not a common scheme, but it was too late when I realized it. A blue yellow bullet one which rocks-still have it-that alternates between bases time to time. A golden one (which gets cloudy soon) but filled the room with hazy, morphing shadows. Far from glitterballs, fluidium, centurys, grandes here. But they're in my cabinet. Oh, and I tracked down a test tube lamp, and got one as well, although it was a bad egg.

Few years ago, After things calmed down. I was looking around the internet when it appeared again in my mind. Of course I know, an O1 is just a dream, a distant one. But the brother still in line of production. I always hesitated because an astro isn't cheap, nor the even fireflows. But I still managed to get one.

and I fell in love again.

It is little, but I can't believe how good the flow is. It would be my first "branded", "proper" lava lamp. By then, I knew rigth away. I decide to grab an astro.

I remembered it was a special fill, and managed to get a clear-turquoise. I love it so much. It was so clear and it flows perfectly. I remember watching two columns rose alternatively, splitting bubbles everywhere. And when I clicked on, it's on. I don't need to worry about anything, it's always have a perfect flow. So when mathmos announced that they'll be releasing a white fill, I managed to get one as well. It wasn't cheap but it's worth it.

I love them. putting them next on the record table, dim the lights, and it's magic. I love the white one, as it was warm. It's perfect as a background lamp, yet it fills the room with the cream light. It got me through nights during lockdown.

Over time I acquired bottles and bottles. So far it's been an adventure. Hunting down a lava floor lamp and ended up failing due to missing the bus. Travelling miles away and got a flu for a broken carramar. Shipping fluidium away internationally from a foreign marketplace (forever grateful for that). Getting a glitter from some family who loved it.

Even deeper than O1, is aura. Back then there wasn't a lot of option (to be honest, still few even today) for candlelight lava lamps. I mean, I think mathmos smart astro is one of the most brilliant lamp innovation, but a lava lamp that stays transparent and uses candlelight? it's all in whole different ballpark, it's amazing! but getting them seems to be just even harder than mathmos. Not as far as O1, but still, quite far reach. But such an interesting and attractive design it's unforgettable. Into that corner of my memory it goes.

Earlier this year I saw a post on facebook about them and apparently they're closing down. I managed to get ahold of the owner.

For a long time I know there are talk around transparent goos..I know magma refills would do that first run but it'll turn opaque every time after.

It was hidden option on the website, but I managed to get it. It was a complete transparent aura option. And then few days after, the website went down. Thus ended the era of a brilliant lamp design.

When I unboxed and put it on, I remember, for quite longest time I've never seen anything as beautiful as that. The light reflecting the transparent blobs are just superb. Like crystallized light shards that's alive.

So far, it's been a journey. The forum has fades out a lot. I remembered the chat was still populated and there are posts everyday. I wasn't active, I wasn't an active collector and my lamps were sparse. But I like this forum, and still do, just like the lamps. It is a home, and a massive resource.

I don't know what'll happen in 10 years. Maybe I'll get an O1 someday. Maybe this forum won't last, who knows.

But I'm thankful for what it's been. Thanks to Mark and the mod teams.

As lava lamp goes, the blob goes up..and down. But that's just what it is.

Let it flow..

Can anyone help me where to get a replacement bulb for a vintage cuda fiber optic lamp. I was given a lamp by a friend but it had no bulb in it. I plugged it in and it appears to be working just can’t find the exact size and type of bulb, it looks like a car bulb but a car bulb won’t work for a lamp. Any help would be appreciated

It's tragic, I first made a profile here forever ago, intending to dive right into the lava community after falling in love with my new neon pink Heritage Grande. Unfortunately, that lamp stopped flowing completely not long after I got it... I tried everything (I thought at the time, anyway) but it refused to move. It honestly broke my heart because I loved that lamp SO MUCH. And this was years after my twin brother shook and (at the time I assumed) ruined my very first lava lamp when we were in our teens, which kept me from lava until I came across pictures of the Heritage Grande and couldn't resist.

Anyway, after both of these bad experiences I quit lava lamps for many, many years. I've always been a HUGE lover of all kinds of lights. String lights, paper star lights, real candles, flameless candles, nightlights, motion lamps, light toys, fiber optic lights, EVERYTHING, if it's a type of light, you name it and I probably love it. I've attended all but the first couple years of Electric Forest in Rothbury, MI, a music and arts festival especially known for the incredible lights displayed in the forest at nighttime. So in the years following my breakup with lava, I still got my lighting fix, but not from lava.

Until this year, when my boyfriend gifted me his late stepdad's 1990's clear/purple Midnight 17" lamp. My boyfriend had heard my sob story of my beloved Heritage Grande quitting on me and he knew I'd appreciate the lamp. Because of how badly things went with my old neon pink, I knew I had to baby this lamp because of how special it was. So I did a bunch of reading about lava lamps before even running it for the first time, including joining the lava lamps Reddit sub. And that's where I learned of the ~$75 Amazon sale on purple/pink Grandes via post from some beautiful angel out there. Thank you, kind soul!

Well, not only did I fall in love with the Midnight once I finally ran it for the first time, obviously things with the Grande went well too because I ended buying not just one but FOUR of those sale Grandes. Since then, I've also acquired two more Grandes thanks to FB marketplace, and several 1990's 17" lamps. My collection is ever growing, and my most pressing lava related goal is to eventually REFURBISH and HEAL my damaged neon/pink Heritage Grande. The liquid is completely milky and the wax is chunky and mottled with black pieces (and an undoubtedly corroded coil!) so it should be to fun to see what, if anything, I can do for it!

I can't believe it took me so long to rediscover my love of lava lamps. I have grown completely obsessed in just a matter of months! I hope to learn new things and make new friends, I am very excited to be here :)
This is a gooey birthday shoutout for my hot lava friend (LarryLover)tag:oozinggoo.ning.com,2022-06-09:1566398:BlogPost:8612902022-06-09T13:30:00.000ZGooGhoul_https://oozinggoo.ning.com/profile/GooGhoul

It’s been ten years to the day (4/12) since I joined OozingGoo to participate in the motion lamp collecting community. I was in middle school and now I am preparing to graduate from college. It boggles my mind that I have been connected with OozingGoo for so long and was able to share and enjoy the hobby with a great group of people.

When I first joined, I had just gotten my first USA made lamp, an 09 Midnight with the box, from a family friend as I was too young to have an eBay account. I remember being so excited to get a quality made lamp like the ones on OozingGoo which I admired through my laptop screen. I was fascinated by the myriad of collections that people had whether it was a couple lamps on a shelf or hundreds filling their entire homes. It was that first US lamp that led me to jumping onto the site to begin sharing photos and start looking at ways to be active.

From then on, I began to grow my own collection with me always being on the lookout at resale and antique shops hoping to find lava lamps (I always wondered if I’d find a really rare model tucked in some corner, but alas, no luck yet). A resale shop near my dad’s house had opened up recently and we took a trip to check it out. I was glad we did as I spotted a pink/pink midnight sitting amongst the end tables and shelves. It was still warm, likely from being tested before it was sent out to the store floor.

I found my first ‘vintage’ lamp at an antique store in Elgin, IL and was ecstatic. Looking back, it’s not necessarily an amazing piece, a faded 03 enchantress planter, but it was enough to keep me motivated to search for lamps ‘in the wild'. By the end of 2012, I had amassed a decent collection with approximately 10 lamps. With my parents now more than happy to help with my obsession hobby, I was able to use eBay with my dad to buy my own lamps as long as I paid him back. A particular one I remember is a 17 blue psychedelic swirl in Spencer's custom program boxes.

At first glance, the listing showed a nice lamp with a pretty good price. Unfortunately, separated wax kept me from enjoying the lamp. It was unresponsive to all non-invasive ways to try and fix it so I had to try and pop the cap off. It was my first attempt at fixing a lamp this intensely. My first try did not end up working and it sat nonfunctional for years. It wasn’t until 2015 that I got the wax to finally mix and see the flow I was waiting for.

Moving to 2017, I had an amazing find that I was not prepared for. There were many lamps I never thought I would own like the Giant, Consort, or Saturna. One that seemed impossible for me to ever obtain without dropping substantial cash on was a Colossus. While browsing LetGo (which I believe no longer exists), I noticed a man selling a lamp described as a “green glass globe”. It seems he never entered a title and the AI generated what it thought best describes it. I knew right away it was a yellow/blue Colossus with the marble base. He was asking $200 which was already a steal, but I remember reading about members haggling to get low prices in spite of a bargain and managed to get it for $175.

Now, it was a problem lamp from the beginning as locating the right bulb was difficult and the wax was extremely dark making it difficult to see the motion. The coil was twisted and I could get virtually no flow out of it even after getting the right bulb. Now this repair was well-beyond the scope of my abilities and I could not even think to take it on as a project. Thankfully, it is currently being restored by Claude who graciously took on the monumental task. We are expecting it to be ready shortly and I will hopefully get pictures showing the lamp in its full glory.

From a simple 20oz classic I got on sale from Menards to over 40 lamps with several rarities, I can say OozingGoo has been a great help for my collection and knowledge of the community. I am now able to provide assistance to those who were once in my shoes answering questions on the discussion board. I am so glad to have been a member for the past 10 years and hope to still be another decade from now. I plan to continue my hobby as long as I can and with still post updates and advice to OozingGoo. Thanks to everyone here for building and sustaining a community that creates a caring and helpful environment for those interested in motion lamps. It's lasted for 25 years and I'd love to see it last for another 25.

Mathmos Lunar Lava lamp 34 inches tall plus extra power converter that is in Excellent condition This is a Mathmos Lunar lava lamp that was made in England around 1999-2000. They are very collectible as many consider them to be the best lava lamp ever made. Mathmos stopped making these lamps over 10 years ago and they are getting harder to find now.Mathmos Lunar lava lamp. Ultra rare With an original Mathmos red vase and the wax is vibrant red. If you look hard enough you can find some faint little scratches here and there but nothing major.) The Mathmos Lunar is made of highly polished aluminum that has a shiny luster and almost a mirror like finish. The FANTASTIC lava flow is what you would expect from a Mathmos Lunar. The Lava is more fluidic than USA lava and produces more snake like columns and unusual shaped blobs. Please examine the pictures above and view my videos at the bottom of this page to see what I am talking about. This Lunar has it's original UK wiring and 3 prong plug The Lunar Lava lamp was 240V 10 0 Watt bulb but the lamp I rewired to 110 V already. Also originally I wanted to do floating shelfs but im not sure if it will be strong enough to support the weight of the lamps. the shelf is going to be about 10 ft long im not sure how deep i want it but i definitely plan on getting a grande at some point it wouldnt necessarily have to be on the shelf though. What did you guys do for your shelves or do you have any suggestions. also im going to have wall mounted power strips underneath the shelf so it only needs to be deep enough for the lamps themselves.
Re doing my lamp set uptag:oozinggoo.ning.com,2021-03-12:1566398:BlogPost:8375152021-03-12T21:26:21.000ZCate Smithhttps://oozinggoo.ning.com/profile/CateSmith

But I’ve decided to change this because a it will look better and b I would like to be able to display all of my lamps. Also I’m going to document iit because some people showed interest in seeing my lava lamp makeover( also I’m still in lock down and need something to do) I have three spaces in my room that I think would work which I will detail bellow. Feel free to post which one I would pick.

spot # one- above my vanity/desk remove my tree painting and put a shelf

pros -display all of them in one spot and it’s direct across from my bed so maximum viewage potential

cons- it doesn’t leave much room for expansion because there are windows on either side of where the shelf would be plus I like my tree painting.
spot # two - above the spare bed( yes I have a spare bed in my room) build shelf for lamps

pros- plenty of room for expansion and still good viewage

cons- I would have to take down the owl painting my sister gave me and would feel kinda bad( even thought it’s a bit creep and look like it watches me in my sleep)

spot # three above my bed move my canvas and replace with shelf

pros- room for expansion and reflection could look cool in my vanity mirror.

con- Least viewage potential as it would be above my head.
I would love to hear your guys thoughts about which spot I should pick. Also I’ll add pictures on a separate post because I can’t get them to work here
The lava culttag:oozinggoo.ning.com,2021-02-23:1566398:BlogPost:8293912021-02-23T19:29:04.000ZMichael Stronghttps://oozinggoo.ning.com/profile/1ecjqgdtukylb

To create a happy home we must pay attention to each part of the house. When you design a Vastu compliant house for your house in a way where the Vastu guidelines have been followed religiously from the basement to the roof. Vastu Consultants says to avoid the lack of space or obstruction in our house to use as much space as possible in our home. Though according to Vastu Shastra it is not advisable to have a cellar under the house but as it is a need of the times then we can use some tips about Vastu for basement. Vastu for basement allows you to live a happy life. Since energy revolves around us every time, the basement cannot be untouched by this energy. The energy around us can be positive or negative. There is any Vastu dosh in your house, in a positive way in a negative way, while a Vastu analog home molds behaves in this energy. Any Vastu dosha disrupts the flow of energy and brings negative consequences. So by removing these Vastu doshas, we can keep this energy in our positive form.

Vastu Consultants in Delhi

As a trusted Vastu Consultants in Delhi, Vastu shastra explains energy flow in an easy way. The energy we are surrounded with is known as cosmic energy. Any blockage in the flow can avoid these situations due to many life related problems in health, wealth, career, business, job, marriage, relationship etc., we must flow only in a continuous way to ensure that energy Is required. This is when we follow our favorable direction. According to Guruji, "Each person has his four favorable and four unfavorable directions based on his date of birth." This energy can be balanced with simple Vastu principles transforming three lives. These theories suggest that through 3 steps, the energy of a house can be balanced from the basement to the roof. These 3 steps are:

Connect with cosmic energy through the direction (favorable direction) Balance cosmic energy through structure (right structure) Channelize cosmic energy through the cycle (active cycle) Let's read what the common basement Vastu tips can to remove negative energy from a house while following the construction of a house:The best part is the north and east part of the house to build a basement. The north and east part should be quite open space compared to the west and south. According to Vastu Consultants in Faridabad, this living or residential purpose is therefore not intended for use for purposes other than living. According to Vastu for the basement, it should be built under a whole house, not just a part of the house. The interior of a cellar should be done according to the architectural guidelines. Basements are only good for using as an office or storage purpose. The south and west part of the basement is best for heavy furniture.

Vastu Consultants in Ghaziabad

Remember that the shape of a basement should be regularly shaped like a square or rectangle. Irregular shaped basement creates issues related to finance and health in life. The water tank in the basement should be located in the northeast, northwest, east or north direction. If the water tank is placed other than these instructions, it causes health and financial problems of the owner. Always keep light objects in the northeast direction. Do not place heavy objects in this direction.
