I have NO idea at all what to pay for one of these alien lamps. I would seriously decide whether you absolutely HAVE to have one of those alien lids or toppers. If you do, you might just want to wait for one of those to pop up on eBay or you could contact OG member Scott13A and ask whether he still has an extra one. Also, I read somewhere that leeder had one - you could contact her. Alternatively, I MIGHT know of someone who MIGHT have one (and if he does, he probably does have the lid/topper). If you want, I can email him and ask him if he has one and if so, what he'd want for it. Actually, I will go ahead and ask for you. Once I hear back, I will let you know.
Also, FYI - I think the market is sort of dropping off a little (due to the bad economy), so this might be a decent time to get one. Another thing that I sometimes do is to email the Seller (if there are no bids) and ask them if they'd be willing to do a Buy It Now, and if so, what price they would be ok with. I do a lot of transactions this way. They really very often go for this. Otherwise, I think the chances are excellent for you to at least get one of these - it's a holiday weekend, people will be away, busy, etc. If these auctions aren't ending soon, maybe I will hear back from my friend shortly - but maybe not. If he's got one he'd be willing to part with - it would be pristine and would almost certainly have the box. It's up to you what exactly your needs/wants are as far as how complete you really want/need it to be.
These do NOT have the alien topper (you may have to get one of these separately - you could ask Bohdan where he got his topper (whether it came with it or whether it was something sold separately - it might be something you put over the cap)).
It is a reproduction "SPUTNIK" lamp. They were somewhat popular in the late 50's early 60's atomic-space-race time. There are all kinds out there, since I got a big ole creepy house, which I LOVE, I wish I would've gone with a bigger one 24 arms! Glad you like. LOVE hearses!

Hiya!
glad you like it!
it's called a Lunar, it's about 3' tall and weighs about 5/6 stone I think, it's certainly very heavy!
it was made by Mathmos in the late 90s - early 00s but are no longer produced.
When they were new they retailed at about £300 gbp but now good ones can go for £500! forget postage as well due to weight.
They will still make bottles for it though, and as well as the red/clear and white/clear I have already I also have a blue/clear coming soon which I am very excited about!
It's the second love of my life after my fella!
I only collect Mathmos, an english company, which was originally called Crestworth, a company founded by Craven Walker, a man acredited with the invention of the lava lamp!
also, being in england makes it easier for me to collect them, as Mathmos won't sell to America due to rights to produce in the states.
I will post some more pics once my blue/clear arrives, can't wait!!! :)
we'd all love it if you took some piccies of your treasured lamps and added them to photos
see ya about!
