Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Phantom flower 1970's fibre optic lamp produced in Germany ((£180 ono)) last one seen sold for £480 on Etsy

This simply stunning and superb vintage fibre optic lamp is Called a Phantom Flower, produced in Germany back in the 1970's. The manufactures label is stamped 69, I don't know if that's the year of production or release. This lamp has always been hard to research given they are so rare. We've only seen three others sell in the UK and the last one I saw for sale, sold for £480 on Etsy.  Scroll down for info.
Please do not compare this to the cheap mass produced fibre optic lamp found all over the internet for sale dating to the 1980's and early 1990's. This is a whole different lamp indeed. Its German high quality, the fibre optic flowers rotate slowly, smoothly and in silence, as they produce a mesmerising ever changing light display.

The only comparison that I have found for this lamp in quality is the Crestworth Galaxy lamp, they are hard to find, but they come up for sale more often than this lamp.

Standing 44 centimetres to the top of the smoked perspex dome. The widest point is 40 centimetres. This is a true collectors piece, though it's 50 years old it looks as modern and sleek. The base bottom has a velvet flock cover, very, very mid century modern, a true classic space age design. ((The glass and metal table the lamp is shown standing on is not included in the sale))

Made from plastic, metal and glass. There's some surface marks to the perspex globe, but it is half a century old and they don't distract from it's beauty, I can't capture them with the camera. It is fully functional as we can demonstrate, but it is not electrically safety PAT tested, as we are not dealers, this is from our now almost sold private collection. It's one of the last things to go as it's one of our favourite pieces. We've looked after this well, it's been stored away and only comes out on rare occasions.

THIS LAMP IS STRICTLY A COLLECTION IN PERSON ITEM. I'm sorry to have to disappoint anyone who is unable to collect this item from us in person. We are not willing to ship this, it's so rare and could easily be damaged in the postal system, we do not want to take the risk with sending this via a courier. Plus we want to demonstrate it's working, as once sold it's non returnable. I have this up for sale with offers £180 ono I just want to find it a home now, as we are letting the remaining items from our collection go.
