Hi all I recently came across these lamps and one is silver and the other is copper.
I'm having problems identifying the copper one.
It has two lines near the top edge of the base all the way round it.
The base itself is in one piece.
I hope someone can shed some light on its age and value for me.
I have got a few copper Astros' but none have the lines.
I am a recent collector of Mathmos and Crestworth lamps.
I have around 140 of them at the last count, lol.
I'm sure they breed over the winter.
Thanks for reading.
That would be a serious bargain price for one Crestworth Astro let alone two. I'd say the copper is worth about £40 dependent upon the condition and the bottle clarity/flow.
Thanks for the info.
Yes it does have the green felt base.
The liquid has gone a bit cloudy but it flows ok.
The copper one is in good condition with only a few slight marks, mainly on the cap.
The aluminium one has a few more marks and a half inch crease in the base.
The liquid in this one was replaced and now it doesn't flow.
It needs a bit of TLC, lol.
When it got the aluminium one it only had half the fluid anyway.
The black plastic or Bakelite cap had broken and split.
It looked like it's been over tightened.
Which is a shame.
I may try some glycerin having failed with Epsom salts.
I shall report back if it works.
Thanks, Wazzer.
