Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Hello.. Ive been wondering, since I currently use..T-7 15 watt .S11 25 watt and 40 watt Clear/frosted appliance bulbs for my well loved lava lamps..what is going to be used if you cant buy these bulbs no longer in the future? Anyone have any information on these kind of bulbs being phased out for the newer style CFL's? or are they only replacing the larger based bulbs with this new style? Any information would be appreciated!!

I've not heard anything about the smaller ones like those being phased out. As far as I know, 100W, 75W are being phased out. 60W is next, but they are still around. I think you'll still be able to get many of the bulbs we need for our lamps for quite some time, but I agree, it's been confusing knowing what is/is not being phased out and when.

You can read more here:

I personally stocked up on several kinds of bulbs I needed for my lamps.

Thank you.. I couldnt imagine using those style bulbs with the small bases like I have now. Thanks for the info! :)

The thing about CFL and LEDs is that they wouldn't put off enough heat. I don't know what the Lava Lite peeps plan to do when they want to phase out 40W!

I was curius if it was just for the normal sized base? for the life of me I couldnt even imagine using a 40 watt cfl in my fridge! LOL

As far as I know, You will still be able to buy regular bulbs after this phase out. They calling them "special use bulbs" and place a warning says it's not intended for domestic usage on box . I'm talking about current European Union regulations, not sure how it works worldwide. By the way, CFL's gives very crappy light :)

I can't see the phase out of the 40W bulbs any time soon as the current other options would not work in appliances without melting due to heat.
