I love the metallics!! I think I'm gonna get one. They are $17.99... But I think the metallic finish is very nice. Probly won't flow well but I can fix that :) I just wish they weren't 20 ounces... In my opinion and experiences, those flow the worst of all new lava lamps.

Don't feel bad Ian, I just spent 40 bucks on a goo kit because I can no longer stand 2 lamps that I have that clouded up, I tried to change the water, only for them to recloud again!!!  My clear/black classic had horrible flow and had a slight haze.  It looked fine when I first changed the water, ran it one time, shut down, turned it on and it started clouding up and now there is all this white stuff floating in the liquid!!!  Ugggg!!!!  Just beware!!!  When you start messing with them, if you can't correct the problem, then you either end up down a lamp or 2 or you have to gookit it.  Personally, I can't wait to regoo mine.  Instead of clear/black, I think i'm going to regoo it in a deep rich red with the silver base.  I think they might jazz it up a bit.  The black is boring me......

P.S.  Personally, if you are not happy with it and don't have the funds to regoo it, I would take it back.  I wouldn't crack it open unless you are seriously thinking of ordering a goo kit as a last case scenario.

The finish on these ones is much different than the red metallic Clearview though. It's a very shiny and reflective surface. It's more shiny than the glass globe! It's pretty cool. I'm debating if I want to try fixing the liquid, or just return it. Not sure if I have the funds to keep it haha.

Ian, I just got a Clearview from Spencer's.  It's base is red metallic.  It's very clear.  Flow isn't anything to oooh and aaaah about though.  It's only on it's 4th run and sometimes it gets interesting, but not too much, lol!!!  The good part is it's crystal clear.  So it's a toss up.  Crystal clear, bum flow, cloudy MAYBE, just MAYBE decent flow or neither.  I must say though it's better then my 20 oz classic.  I changed the fluid on this one to see if I could alter the flow.  Tonite I just added a bit more surf and it's finally snaking and columning.........no more round 8 balls up and down, up and down, up and down, Zzzzzzzz......oh sorry, I was dozing, lol!!!  If you really like the metallic bases you could always goo kit it.  Then again for almost 20 bucks, plus the cost of the kit with the shipping, prob not worth it.

Wel I bought the metallic green one... And it's horrendously cloudy :( the metallic base is super awesome though!!! I do remember these coming out awhile ago. Going back for a refund tomorrow :/ maybe I'll get the "fireworks" colormax one, as that one looks very 60s tie dye.
