I have one of those fiber optic flowers but it is enclosed in a plastic box!!  Thank god because I used to have the angel fiber optic which wasn't encased and that thing would get so dusty and dirty.  Plus it had like feathers on her.  It was a beautiful angel.  And get this.  Before I got into lamps I wouldn't light anymore, so I thought it was broken and gave it to a friend.  Here I come to find out, it was probably only the bulb

Carol,

I used sewing machine oil, and while the unit was running, I oiled everything that moved.  My spray did loose some of it's fiber's when I cleaned it.  That's something I'll not do again.

Thanks Kirk! I've been thinking I need to pull some of mine out, too! I miss them! All is well here - hope you are, too! :)

Nice picture!

You make me miss my Fantasia, Erin.  I think I need to pull out my collection soon.  Hope you are doing well.

Maybe that's why my wheel makes a noise.  It need oiling.  You use WD 40?  I have a can of that lubricant that you clean the barrel of like airsoft and paintball guns with.  Can I spray a tad of that on.  Where do I concentrate the oil at on the wheel?  The wheel on my fiber optic flower is small.  I guess underneath, right?

I got my Fantasia Model 4000 a couple weeks ago at an antique shop for $125.  I took it apart, oil and cleaned it, polished the chrome and swished the optic fibers in the bathtub with dishwashing liquid.  They were super dirty.  They came out very clean.  I do think I lost a few fibers, but you really can't tell since there are so many.  I put the lamp back together and it runs quiet and looks great.  Color wheel is like new.

I don't fun my fiber optic flower much either anymore Erin.....sadly, because the bulbs I have to order online are sooo expensive and they seem to last only a couple of weeks for some reason.  I was handling them a lot with my fingers and Vox and Keith said that's a big NO NO with halogens!!  I didn't know that.  So I put a new one in with a paper towel so as not to touch it, but I am just worried about it blowing out super quick and also, when replacing the bulb the bulb set that holds it in was so dry rotted from age it just crumbled, so now there really isn't anything keeping the heat down in there at bay.  If I do put it on it's only for an hour here or there at night when I'm chillin in bed on the laptop or something like that.  These vintage lamps are nice, but I'm afraid to run them because one can't get any parts to even do a restore.  I wish someone would reinvent the wheel and start making things like this again for our future generation.  Sadly, I don't think they will get to experience our novelty lighting craze of back in the day unless they're parents or grandparents turn them on to it.....

The guy on here was doing sprays and color wheels, but my last inquiry to him was met with him being too busy and/or he never got back to me. Getting replacement sprays is near impossible.

I got this lamp back in 2010 and I love it. I don't run it much though (same goes for most of my lamps).

I don't think the guy on OG is going to be making any sprays.   Says he's too busy.

Ohhh Erin, that is simply gorgeous!!!!  I want one sooo bad, but am afraid if I do buy one that I won't be able to get the parts for it should something go on it.  I know there was a member who said he was going to make the sprays on OG, or did I see that on Ebay somewhere???  Anyway, again, that is soooooo nice!!!!  A big congrats!!!
