Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Just got these today. They actually pretty small. Standing at 11 inches from bottom of the base to the top of the cap. They look pretty old. The other one is missing a bulb. They need restored.

Just to be fair I'm going to list them in the buy-sell-trade area.

Awww, you're too sweet Jonas. :) I'm kind of a "one of everything" collector. But seriously, if you're looking to sell, PM me. I might not be able to afford it, but I'd like a shot if you're looking to sell.

Might I recommend giving Erin first crack? Loads of people like these, but she's really trying to get a nice beginning collection of glitters together.

The right one appears to be the golden color, but what exact color is on the left?

If you sell them, think of me! I might be interested! I love the one on the left. :)

Thank you everyone. I was able to remove the globes and had my wife replace the light. I couldn't get my fingers in there to twist the bulb. Little hands!
They are enjoyable to look at and have some minor issues such as one of the bases is a little loose. Just needs the cardboard disc on the bottom removed . The base tightened and then the disc glued back. The base on the other one was loose too but the disc had already come loose so I tightened it.

Haven't decided on future plans for these but I have my heart set on an Astro and am not getting as nice of an income refund as expected. So selling them might be an option.

If you have trouble removing the globes start a new thread and I'll post what I did to remove them.
The brass cap on top of the globe comes off and reveals a screw cap underneath.
The fluid does not seem toxic. It's sorta oily.

Also: Researching history of these lamps online is very difficult because Florence officially named them...

Use 7-watt bulbs in the little ones, no higher. You might try some Brasso on the finish - be sure to put masking tape on the globe to protect the glass when you do the caps. I'd say try a small area on the back of the base first. If the globes are hard to remove, try twisting them and wiggling slightly.

There are two bottle sizes, multiple different models (some in black as well as brass), some with wooden or painted chalkware sections. All but the scroll model and the one which rests in a three-legged wire cage base have a push switch on the base. And yes, there are multiple double-globe models and three different triple-globe ones too. The scroll models shown from Bohdan are the only "brass" model with a painted gold finish; all other "brass" Florence Art lamps have a satin brass metal finish. And then there are the Heat Tapes, Inc. lamps with an ornate base on a wooden or painted metal support, and the Pagoda Lamp Co. models with a conical bottle and pagoda-shaped base. OG user Bryin has photos of many of them posted here.

Bohdan, those are beautiful!

Thank you everyone for the comments and information.
Got bulbs in both of them and they are looking good!
