"This sounds fishy, but I did it and now mine works.
I read somewhere else on this board that Lava's don't like MDF furniture - made from manufactured wood (i.e. pressboard). I had a blue/white 14 inch on my desk that just never did work…"
"Hey, Patricia. I'm a newbie, too. I recently bought my big blue/white LavaLite two little friends - an 8 ounce glitter lamp and an 8 ounce LavaLite (the small size is so cute!) The glitter lamp and Mr. Big get along happily, just glittering and…"
"When I first read this, it seemed illogical, but then I had a thought. The new blue and white one I got last Christmas (which has never worked too well) is on a desk made of the same MDF-type stuff. So I moved it to (and yes, I know you are not…"

Where I Live:
The third story of my parents' house
My First Lava Lamp was:
I grew up in a very small town in Tennessee, about 100 miles west of Nashville. Not a lot of people had LavaLites when I was growing up, but my childhood dentist had one in his waiting room - it was a brushed gold planter model with blue/yellow globe. I wanted one SO bad. I had seen mostly in catalogs like the old Service Merchandise. I have been fascinated by them (and many other lamps that move) just about all my life, but I didn't get my own LavaLite until sometime in the 90's - a blue and white midnight version, bought the weekend of Woodstock 2. Well, I lost it in a divorce settlement, so my mom (knowing my weakness) gave me a new one for Christmas last year! YAY MOM!
