Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Ok here is the deal

I am referbing a 52 oz lamp

i bought a magma tower kit

i followed the instructions it came with and looked at the instructions online here

https://oozinggoo.ning.com/page/goo-kits

I Cleaned bottle

a cleaned coil

melted the goo

colored the goo

funneled it to the bottom

Let it cool added suf in distilled water

Plugged lamp up and this is what i get...

It looks like it is running too hot so  i put it on a dimmer switch and it still stays at the bottom...

Can anyone let me know what i did wrong...

The goo is soft and will move when lamp is bumped but will not Go up

Thank you for any help

First runs can take a little longer. How long have you been running it?

about 16 hours....i didn't realize that it may take a few runs to get it up and moving..I am getting movement but not a lot...i thought it would start up as normal on the first run...I'll cycle it a few times then re post the results...I may just have not given enough time

Whoa, OK. So long enough! How much surfactant did you add?

If you have added anough surf then there is proabably a issue with the formular (porbably wax) so if thats the case contact magma tower.

about 15ml i am getting some movement but i am going to let it run for a bit ill get back...i already contacted magma and they did say the get bad goo from time to time ...but if that was the case they would get me a R/A number and make it right...Gotta love quality businesses...ill post an update when i know more

15ml of surf should be fine, there has been cases of dodgy formular so that could be the issue and if so then I am sure they can sort you out with a refund or replacment kit or wax as its most lickly going to be the wax / goo base.

ok...here is an update...I did have in the origional post that i did something wrong...and i used an eye dropper that came with the good kit and misread the numbers on the side...(which is hard to read as it is transparent plastic) i was trying to run a lamp with only 1.5 suf....DOH!....well now that there is about 17 in the lamp i am getting great movement and am looking forward to my next project...

Thanks everyone sorry to waste anyone's time..

The eyedropper is useless, you can use those little measuring cups that come with cough syrup bottles. The gookit used to come with these cups but they stopped including them for some reason.  Try adding 55ml of surf to a grande using a eyedropper lol you'd lose interest real fast.

It does happen where they get bad batches but it still flows. And the gal who runs the gookit store is super nice and their CS is usually very good. I've had a bad batch before and they response quickly and sent out new goo even quicker.

I did call magma at first Dr.What...and the girl that runs the store was a peach....she referred me to you actually..and said you know more about their kits than they even do...(you should hit them up for getting on the payroll)....then she said if we still could not get it right ..that they would make it right...They may not be the cheapest but having a stand up company is worth it.

Thanks for the great idea for the medicine cup....I have two 32 oz lamps to re-do and the florescent dyes just came in today...going to be a good weekend(grin)

thanks again
