Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

The upside is I scored a fairly rare 52oz lava plasma lamp off ebay and I only spent about $28 shipped.

52oz Lava Electroplasma lamp

On the downside, the seller took a long time to ship it and I was beginning to wonder if I'd ever receive it at all.  It arrived today and the lamp was in good shape and works well, but the idiot used the original box as the shipping container!  I was able to peel most of the tape and labels off without too much damage to the box label.  The seller also wrote on the box with a permanent marker!  Doofus!

Here's the wad of tape and labels I peeled off the box.

Some peoples' kids...

aww sorry to here about that Rich C... some you win ... some you lose..

These thunderbolt and lightning doohickeys never did it for me.

Cheap crap !!!

Talk about turning this on its ear.  I vented my frustration on the slow shipping, lack of seller responses and how it was shipped to ebay (I already had a case open for the slow shipping and lack of responses) and they refunded me the whole amount.  Now, I was frustrated by a number of things but I don't think I should get a full refund AND get the keep the lamp.  I sent a note to the seller explaining my frustrations and offered to send some funds back to him if he'd like.  Of course it may take me about two weeks to actually get around to doing that.....  ;)

It is good to know ebay supports buyers so well, but man can they be harsh to sellers.

Yeah eBay can be really harsh to sellers. I've been there before with non-lava items and buyers can really let you get screwed as a seller because of eBay's ridiculous buyer protection. It's good that they protect the buyer but sometimes they go a bit too far in the buyers favor IMO.

Ebay refunds out of their own pocket sometimes, believe it or not!  And they sometimes do it without notifying all parties involved.  Ebay fully refunded one of my buyers who said they did not receive their item (tracking showed "delivered").  Nowhere was it noted on my end that the refund was given.  Another time, they sent my buyer a pre-paid return postage label.  That guy almost got double reimbursement for postage, cuz I'd already agreed to reimburse his return shipping.  Had I not called Ebay, I'd probably never have known they had paid it already because they never made official note of reimbursement, either time...

Any idea how to tell the difference?  The Paypal refund says it was a refund from the buyer by name and e-mail address.  I certainly don't want him to get paid twice!

Try calling Ebay to ask...like I said, had I not actually heard about the refunds from a customer service rep, I never would have known about them.  It's no secret, they'll tell ya if you were involved in the original transaction.  Good luck-
