Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I've been wanting to expand my plasma collection and a few choice items came up recently.  I was able to score 3 out of 4 of the ones I wanted, this is the first to arrive.  This is the original plasma dome reportedly designed by Larry Albright and made and sold by Rabbit Systems.  Radio Shack/Realistic has a version very much like it that came out later.

The most recent plasmapalooza consists of this plasma dome a White Lightning (which came in it's original box), an actual Larry Albright plasma globe (one his few named, numbered retail versions) and a new in the box blue Lava Lightning 2 (just the red one to go to finish out the set!).

I can't wait until the others arrive to join my growing plasma collection.

And little boy blue in action.

Lava Lightning 2 in blue

That's HOT!!!!

Hey this is a pretty cool plasma lamp on trippy lava lamps

The last one of the recent triple play (finally!) arrived today after taking a couple of detours.  This is the gem of the three, an actual Larry Albright original, probably one of the very first commercially available plasma globes.  This thing weighs a ton and is over a foot tall.

But before I could get them all I scored another bargain plasma.  The new one is a lava lamp shaped plasma but this is the more rare intermediate sized one.  It is sized between the common 20oz sized ones and the more rare 52oz ones.  The new one is the same size as the Lightning Storm lamps but contains the more common blue/red plasma.  Unlike the smaller version and like the larger ones, this one has a three way switch offering off-on-sound reactive settings.

Anyway, here are some photos of the new Larry Albright lamp. Needs some serious cleaning and polishing of the plastic case but these photos are of it fresh out of the shipping box.

That is really nice!!!!

The color is different, more unique.  The plasma tendrils are more smooth and buttery if that makes any sense.  The plasma movement is more organic than others which seem more machine-like.  On full intensity it seems to fill the globe with plasma more than any lamp I have.  I'm probably sounding like a nut!  But it IS different.  It is also dead silent unlike any other plasma I have which seems rather odd since I'm used to some kind of noise.  The White Lightning in comparison is quite noisy on full bore, almost intimidating.  The LA globe seems to also be entirely free of the typical ozone smell you get from most other plasma lamps.

That's truly amazing.....I noticed right away that the coloring of the LA was different!!  What year is that from?  Oh and gotta say I luv the LA, but that pic of your little boy blue is amazing!!!  lol!!!

P.S.  Guess I should go back to the first post, lol, I think you mention what year the LA is from....

Wow, talk about taking plasma to  a whole new level!!!!  I'm sure you've seen this, but these people really go crazy building these tesla coils!!!

Thought you'd enjoy this!!!  I'm gong to post it up in General......this band has to wear protective clothing during their concerts with their tesla coil stuff.........I'm going to try to find a video of one of their live performances on youtube....

Those people are nuts!  Cool though.

Cool, it's like ramstine but with lightning
That plasma globe looks nice - verry much of a vintage item (if vintage is possable for plasma globes)

They are nuts Rich.....you wouldn't catch me doing that!!!  I'm terrified of electric.  If I get shocked plugging something in to a particular outlet, I won't touch that outlet again.  I make someone else plug something in, lol!!!!
