Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

This is sooo creepy that it 100 percent looks blue, but this is my violet lamp warming up on day 3 after kitting. I can't believe how much lava it looks like is in this thing before it gets flowing, lol!!

Carol, I don't know if putting foil under the cap is a good idea.  Those caps have a plastic seal that compresses when put on properly.  That brings up the point that when you recap you should check to see if the plastic seal and the cap itself is in good condition.  If not you can replace it with a regular pop bottle cap, assuming it is in good condition.  I found about 20 old used caps at a junk store years ago so it may be something to keep an eye out for.  But if you want new you can get them online or at a brewers supply store.

Rick, I haven't completely sealed one yet!  If I do I will use a small hose clamp similar to what you use to clamp hoses to pools.  You tighten just so.  Not too tight or it will break the glass around the top of the globe.  Then you kind of spin it and retighten until all of those "teeth" around the cap are flush again.  When I pop one open, I VERY gently pry just a few up until I can get one of those rubber things that you use to get stubborn caps off and when I can get it off with a tiny bit of a twist that's it!!  I'm thinking of placing a small amount of tin foil under the cap and then putting it back on, then the hat.  I have to remember though not to grab the bottle by the cap when and if I move them.  The kits range in different prices depending on what you are looking at.  There is a mini kit which is what I used for my first goo kit because I wasn't sure I was going to go forward with anymore projects.  It's very addicting once you start.  Just goolge magma towers gookits and it will give you the shopping page.  Once you get your kit with you main dyes, funnel, straw, etc., then you can just order the goo and the surf.  That's what I just did.  Also, the specialty dyes like the violet, orange, etc., are separate and do not come with the kits.  I ordered my violet separate.  You can also make colors by blending, but being new to goo kitting I didn't feel comfortable with that so I left that alone.  I luv the flow of my goo kits.  To tell you the truth, aside from the vintage lamps, I prefer a goo kit flow to a china flow any day.  There is a weath of info on here under goo kit tutorial, bottle capping, etc., and you can also ask away to your fellow OG members who are always willing to answer questions on goo kitting.  That's how I started.

How much do the kits cost? Looks like they work good. Do you have a bottle capper or just do it with peers or a cork or what?

I'd love a lamp that colour!
