Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Well, ive been inactive for quite some time. Ive been pretty busy lately. so i thought id post a little something :P

Ive been planning a clean up of my lava lamps, not really selling any of them, i dont think i could bear to part with any of them as of yet. Just trying to free up space for other ornaments and knick knacks in my room. Because as of now, all i have in my room is lamps, and theyve started migrating onto my floor again :P haha

ive been wanting some form of shelving unit for a while now, and i recently found one at wal-mart. its a plastic thing that stands probably around 6 or so feet high, with..5 shelves on it i think. i did the math, and i could probably fit at least 8 lamps per shelf. the only thing would be the power. i was thinking of getting a few 8 or 12 outlet strips, depending on how many i can fit on a shelf.

I will post pics as i make progress with that.

as for my custom grande, i have all my wax and things. im just scared to attempt making black wax haha. i want it to look black when the lamp is on as well.

ive also come to the realization that i cant get the 100w R20 bulbs in canada. they only come in 50w. the next step up would be a flood bulb, which is 4 inches across i think. and if im running a gookit in it, im pretty sure u would need at least a 75. the bulb i have is red, but theres still white light that shines by the base of the bulb. is there any kind of paint or anything i could use on the bulb, that wouldnt melt or catch fire?

hmm kinda new to lava lamps but what if you got the 50 watt bulb first. And then take the glass part of the red bulb of and replace it with the 50 watt one. This may not be possible but just a suggestion.
good point Bohdan. The only thing is I dont want to support lava lite.
I can totally relate to this situation Diin.
