Your favorite Operating System?

Don't know if we've done this before but I thought it would be kinda fun with Windows 7 and Snow Leopard coming out before the end of the year. What's your favorite operating system? What was your least favorite operating system. How long have you used it. Keep it clean and fun :D


My favorite operating system was Windows Millennium Edition (Windows Me) because it was basic and ran smoothly FOR ME, even though it did go down as the worst ): I liked the user interface, icons and it never really gave me any serious issues. My least favorite goes to Windows Vista. Takes way too much to work properly and seems like it was rushed into development just to keep up with the competition, not to mention all the incompatibilities with hardware, Of course ME had that too but I never had a problem.

But I guess the BEST OS would probably go to Windows XP and MAC OS X

Oh I agree 100%, you do need the hardware to run vista but my computer came with Vista Ultimate 32-bit and I've had so many problems with it. But I never owned a mac either due to the price. You can get a really good PC for the price Mac charges for its starter computer.

Windows XP so far. From the betas I have used - looks like Windows 7 is going to be the next best one I like. Love the interface and OMG - much faster than Vista and XP. Vista was OK if you have the hardware, but it was nothing but bloat! The worst OS ever. ME is the next worse.

Yea the RC version of 7 is amazing. I think it will be like Windows XP.

Im currently running XP Pro, I have Vista and do not like it one bit (64 bit or 32). I like "less is more" attitude, I dont want a OS holding my hand all the time. In the past I liked Win98 and Win2000, Win95 and WinMe were the worst. I have tryed various Linux OS's and they are just lacking the power I crave, RedHat was OK. I build my own PC's and only get the top of the line componets so I usually over build my personal machines. My current machine is a dual core overclocked to run anywhere from 2.2ghz to 3.5ghz, it all depends what im doing. From what im reading maybe Win7 will be my next OS.

I liked windows 3.1, 98, 2000, Xp.
Me was a disaster and it was in it for the money and it will do for now product, until xp is released.

I LOVED my Windows XP, learning Vista 64 bit wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I hate that they changed alot of preferences, but changing the compatibility mode is (mostly) all that is required to run my Paint Shop Pro 9, Audacity... Hell, I've got the original Sims on this thing!
Can't wait for Windows 7, sounds like XP... they're even offering a free "upgrade" to customers who buy a new system after it's release!

OSX is a great operating system. However, there are some things that bug the hell out of me. The constant "task bar" at the top of the screen. Also, how when you open an application, it's "task bar" is not attached to the window, it again - is at the top of the screen. That drives me freaking nuts. I can't stand it at all.

I also despise Mac Mail and Entourage. Junk junk JUNK! Everything else is nice. If those things were changed, I would consider it again. Until then, I will stay with Windows.

Wouldn't pc's come with 7 pre-installed after its release? You mean if customers by Windows Vista like now will they get a free Win7 upgrade?

yeah, i work for a computer electrical retailer in the uk, I have heard that all customers who buy a new pc or laptop will be given a chance of windows 7 upgrade or windows vista. if you buy a new laptop or desktop you don't now always get the restore disk with it. It is preloaded on to a backup harddrive on the vista system. Anyway i have tested windows 7 and can it is great but i have to get a faster pc when it does lauch's

I am glad i am holding out for a new computer. when i heard from my dad that win 7 was going to be a another new OS out, shortly after vista was released.

Are they doing this now with it. So your computer comes with Vista installed and 7 on another partition?
