The New 52oz Rainbow Lamps/ Lava World Sucks...

I already started a thread about this problem in the problem forum but I'm continuing it here so I can complain. :O)

I just got (on Thurs, today is Sunday) one of the 52oz rainbow lava lamps. I only bought it in order to transfer the contents into a clear globe in order to make a clear/white lamp. Of course this idea was too good to be true because this rainbow lava lamp sucks and doesn't work/is a total piece of crap.

I wanted to run it for a few days b4 making the transfer so it's been on (and then off) for many hours since I received it and the lava does absolutely nothing but stick to the side of the glass forming a pathway upwards, then the majority of lava stays motionless at the top and it also has a pathway down another side of the globe. You can see the lava slowly traveling around just enough to keep it circulating... but that's it. If I swirl it the lava will pull away from the sides of the glass and sink but immediately sucks right back onto the glass and gathers at the top.
It's useless and I'm so disappointed and irritated.

I thought I might have a defective lamp but Bohdan replied in the problem forum that the 20oz rainbows also have this same sticking problem.
So: WTF is Lava Worlds problem? If they can't get the formula right and the lamps don't flow then why the hell did they put them out for sale?!? (Or maybe some of you have one's that actually work nicely/normally?)

I'm so irritated over this, not only because I wasted the money (I can't return it since I already removed the bottle cap to check if the liquid was indeed totally clear... then recapped it w/ a bottle capper) but especially because I reeeeally wanted that clear/white.

Here's some pics of the useless rainbow. They're bad pics but you can see in the first on how most of it is at the top and in the others how it's just "glued" to the sides.

And one more thing about LW:
WTF is with this horrible green tinted glass they use for the globes?!? With my rainbow lamp I had also bought a 52oz clear glitter lamp and it's got that damn green glass! The last new lamp I bought from LW was one of those flame resin based ones when they first came out and that was when I first noticed the green glass. I was hoping they would've changed it by now, but obviously not

Anyone else notice this and does it annoy you? It's not severely green but green enough to be noticeable and annoying/distracting to me.

Anywho... end of complaints. :O)

Well I just saw Lampheads post and the pics of his rainbow lamp flowing perfectly and beautifully. Maybe I got a defective one after all? Maybe it'll work after more usage? Maybe some work and others don't?
Uhg.
wow, that is to bad. I would definately return it. I hope mine works. I should be getting my rainbow and black chrome next week some time.
I also do believe it is a hit or miss with LW. I think certain batches are better then others....my 52oz Rainbow is still flawless and flowing great and so is my Black Chrome.....I guess my first question to all of you is....what bulb are you using ?? All the new lamps come with the clear bulb which I change to a frosted bulb....LW is so lame, if you ask them what bulb to use they will tell you a frosted bulb, but they ship with clears...WTF !! I always start with a frosted bulb.

The lava creeping up the sides almost makes me believe the globe is not getting hot enough...is the base perfectly round ?? Does the globe fit on it properly ? I would start there and switch to a frosted bulb and run 4 hours on, 4 hours off, on a timer for a week and see what happens and then switch to 8 hour cycles. I have seen the clouding happen from too much heat.

Mine were purchased from andresteven on Ebay...where did everyone get theirs ??

Very well said Astro ^^^^ However I seriously doubt that the formula is anywhere near original, I know the USA ingredients (wax/fluid) were USA made....I sure the China wax/fluid is the cheapest on the market and not made in the USA.
