How to turn off email notifications

The system has you set to "follow" any of the discussions that you are involved in and you get emailed every time someone psots something. It is really easy to turn this off. you can turn it off at the bottom of each discussion, click "do not follow". I think there is another place in your profile where you can turn it off entirely.
