50th Anniversary Grande' Globe

When I left for work this morning I put my new 50th Anniversary Grande' globe on one of my Heritage Grande' bases and fired it up for its first run.

I got home about 1/2 hour ago and found it flowing.  The clarity is perfect and the colors are just spectacular.  As I mentioned in another thread the glass quality is just great so I am really pleased with the lamp.  I will have to unpack the 50th Anniversary Base and run the lamp as intended to fully evaluate the lamp but the globe flows nicely on the Heritage base.  I suspect the flow will be a tad more active on the intended base but on the Heritage base the flow is relaxed, oozy and goes between nice stretching and some blobbing.....it's nice varied flow.

Here are a couple pics and the color in the pics is pretty representative of the lamp in person, though in person it is a bit more intense.  Really, the color is spectacular and there is a neat 3 Dimensionality to the globe because of the amazing clarity of the fluid.

I gotta recommend this globe highly!

Sparty.....bought mine, along with a Rainbow Grande' and got a 52oz Anniversary Lamp right there at Lava Lite Headquarters in Chicago.  I picked them up in person last Friday when I was there visiting Jim and his wife.

Jim and I did a lamp swap and visited a bit.....had a blast!  I gotta get back to Chicago again for a longer visit!

Oh Crit, that is a spectacular lamp!!!  Looks like I may have to make that my Merry Xmas to me lamp!!!  Is this going to be limited to just so many sold or do you think they will have them around the holidays?

Well I decided to unpack and fire up the Anniversary Base for the new Grande'.  The base is nicely done and the metal is basically perfect.  As has been mentioned before that the P/Y Globe on the Gold Tone Base is a NICE combination.  The original intel on the Anniversary lamps was that they would be Clear/Red globes....which would have been quite classic.  However, I think L.L. went with the P/Y because they already produce basically all globe sizes in the color combo so for the sake of cost efficiency I suspect they went with P/Y over Clear/Red to save cost.  No matter what reason I like that the P/Y was used as it is my favorite color combo.

More about the base:  It is nice that it has a dimmer though my preference is for a dimmer to be integral to the base.  The dimmer on the power cord is not a big deal to me though.  I'm just glad it is there because the bulb mount within the base is really, really high up.  I thought it might actually touch the globe as it is that high.  This lamp would over heat (and it does) under full power so the dimmer is critical and the dimmer works just fine.  When I fired this globe up on the Heritage Grande' base I just ran the dimmer set to max and never had to touch it, the globe runs just fine on that base at max.  

Here are some pics of the full 50th Anniversary Grande' running....it's a looker for sure.  The flow is just what you want trust me on that as it goes from blobs, to long columns, to serpentine snakes and back and forth.  If you have to decide on just one Anniversary lamp this is the one have.

Just so you all can see the difference in bulb placement here are the Heritage and Anniversary bases with installed bulbs:

I am going to fire up the Grande Rainbow on its base now.....right next to the Anniversary Grande and post a comparison of the two once both are fully flowing on their intended base.

Is it actually in Chicago, or is it the Elk Grove Village location outside of Schaumburg? May actually be taking a trip there to get a good grande!
