The br40 bulbs screwed in to the socket no problem. Like I say, I did have to bend the arms that hold the socket, so that the the bulb would be far enough down in the base. I think my colossus was born in 2007.

They fit in the BR30 slot !!!!  Man, you just ended a year of darkness and depression for this Lava lover!!

Uh...is there a difference in Canadian power plugs/outlets and USA ones, like Europe has?

Uh oh...just ordered 4..Mine is so old it has a Humongo stamp on the packing box which it places it circa 2002-2003 I think

The store I bought big daddy from used 65watt flood bulbs in it which I believe are the br30 size, and any bulb I've screwed into mine has lit up. When I got replacement bulbs from lava lite a couple times, they screwed in no prob, lit up no prob, but like I say I had to bend the bars that hold the socket, cause the bulbs was about an inch or so too high. I've also read that the 130v bulbs In a 120v socket, ends up cutting down the lumens the light bulb with actually output, so the fact that they're 300w 130v bulbs, then run more like a 225w or so.

As for our wiring in Canada, we have both indoor and outdoor plugs in our igloos, so we have to be careful which piece of equipment we buy, and make sure it's wired right... Lol... Just kidding, yes Canada and the USA have the same wiring. Sorry, couldn't resist :-)

Hope these bulbs light up your colossus without giving you too much grief!! I'm so stocked up on bulbs for all my lamps, I have an old dresser that's full of 40w for my 32s and 52s. I got the 100w grande bulbs from that place too. If the world is actually slowly banning those type of bulbs, I'm stocked and ready!! A world with no functioning lava.... What a horrifying thought!!

THEY DID AND I'M SO FRIGGIN HAPPY !!!!!!!!  I had to bend the frame that holds the bulb socket and I am very cognizant of the fact that the extra 100 watts might endager the glass so I dont leave it on full except to start it up.

Having a dead Collossus was so extremely depressing. It sat dormant for a year..a YEAR !!

James, that is truly harsh. Be careful bending that frame and remember that you don't want to have that bulb too close to the glass.

Two Colossuses (or is that Colossi?)...wow !  I believe this thread has the place where I bought my bulbs...I bought four and am gonna buy more, but you go first.

I cant tell you just how nervous I was when I first  put the bulb in...I figured I had a less than 50% chance of them working. And when  that light came on I jumped up and down like a lunatic....my teen daughter was quite amused.
