Giant Excaliber flow is slow

Hello!   Just acquired a Giant Excaliber, but the the flow is like molasses in winter!  It has a 75 watt bulb, but it does not appear to get hot enough to turn the wax into blobs or streaming blobs.  It creates wavy looking stalagmites - please see picture.  If I understand correctly, you can buy some SURF and add to the solution and it will make it move better, but wanted to get your thoughts on how to bust open the cap and how much to add.  OR if there's any other way to make it flow like it should.  Thanks, all!!
