I'm glad your lamp worked out for you. I must say however, if nothing else then for any minors who read this, that heating the globe on the stove can be dangerous:

yeah it really is but i am what you call an expert at watching and keeping an eye on it i know how much the globes can take and what not to do
One of the former moderators here (he is no longer on the site) is an expert in almost all things "lava lamp". He had a set-up for a grande with a 100 watt bulb and a socket extender. He ran this for several weeks or months but it turned out that the bulb was too close to the globe and the globe cracked. The globe didn't run hot that way either but it caused too much heat stress on the glass.
yeah i can imagine the only imperfection our globe had was a tiny crack looking piece on the inside of the globe but the glass is so thick and the liquid so clear it runs great i only use the stove once to check to see the lava flow and how well it works this one is the best i have
Samantha, that is not good that there is a crack on the inside of the globe you are heating on the stove. That just makes it more apt to burst. Please don't put that lamp back on the stove. That story is horrible and could happen to anyone, no matter how much of an expert they are.
I was just worried, Samantha. Please be careful.
I know and more great news there is not a crack in the globe it was probably something I was looking at through the glass because i just cleaned it and its fine no imperfections that makes me happy as all heck a Grande for real cheap in pristine condition
Sorry but watching something on the stove doesn't make you a expert. A real expert would know better because all you had to do is sneeze or accidentally spit on your lamp while its on the stove and it would've exploded possibly killing you or someone. Sorry I know people keep saying how dangerous it is and you got the point (I hope) but PLEASE so don't be one of those people who thinks it cant happen because that's when it does happen.
Mythbusters even proved this. Watch and learn. http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLF2A232E06E84304B
