Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

why is it when whenever i buy a lava world china made lava lamp it never works right i own an american made lava world lava lamp and it works great i call cust service and they say its normal for my issue with the china made lamp and my american made lamp works great all the time i talk to other people and they say the same thing there just not as good as the american made lamps you would think they would want to make a quality product such as mathmos lava lamps instead of focusing on the cheapest way to make them they should be focusing on making a quality product maybe they should bring back manufacturing back to the united states and go back to the old ways of making a lava lamp a lava lamp may cost more but it would be a better product i dont know about everbody else but i would pay more money for a better product thanks for reading jay

I completely agree, I have 3 china lamps and they are constantly over heating and coming off the coil, its shocking beyond belief! I own a few Mathmos and have rarely had a problem that wasn't my own fault, and even then Mathmos have been a great help to me. The sad reality is that if Lava World start making American made lamps again, it will be a long time before they are trusted, it seems the original lava formula has been lost over the years and I don't think Mathmos is sharing their formula again any time soon.

Would I like to see cheaper lava lamps? Not if the product suffers in the function it was intended to do, no.

How does Lava World stay in business? I guess because of people not knowing any better, buying them as gifts.

I don't believe this. Maybe the materials have changed to save money. Maybe the skills to produce quality products have been lost. I'm sure the formula has been documented. There's more to it then loosing the mixture of materials.

I remember talking with someone who worked at Lava world as a consultant. The people there were so into the job and experimenting they would stay late and play in the labs with various formulas and combination.
The person I bought a one off rariety lamp said he knew the exact formula but was not allowed to release it due to trade secret, patents and non disclosure agreements.

Another lava world representative who used to visit here said the formula was a highly guarded secret, but was fully documented. it had to be for poison control issues. If I remember correctly, he said it was in a sealed envelope and if someone received a call from poison control they would open the envelope and read off the ingredients and any procedures.

From what he said it was handled as a very corporate procedure.

Perhaps some of the internal quality and pride is the missing ingredient that has been lost.
With the new patents we have here at Magma Tower, you will see the demise of LW real soon.
