Hi there,
just received my Lunar frow Switzerland :-)
I've been told the bottle is tired, but I can't even try it yet because seller didn't include bulb.
(anyway I'll have to change the swiss connector to a euro one).
Could you tell me exactly what bulb I'm supposed to buy (a reference will be great!)
Another thing: I can't manage to remove the conic cap from the bottle. Is there a special technic?
I don't want to ruin it.
Any advice welcome.
Thanks!
PS: I don't have the red mathmos sticker on the cap is it normal?
I just have a sticker on one leg:

yes unscrew the bullet tip and it should come off
what do you mean?
you need to unscrew the tip to remove the cap?
yes the thread is conected to the top of the bottle so unscrewing the bullet tip should make it easy for the cap to come off
So is a r80 e27 100w is ok?
What about a halogen bulb?
Anybody got a picture of what the tip is screwed on?
I can't remove it.
It was stuck, now I can turn it (hard), but it seems it turn free and not unscrewing.
So I've one cloudy bottle and no way to remove the cap :-(
Thanks Krissy,
could you get a close up?
I don't see exactly how is it.
how is it connected to the bottle cap?
I don't have a lunar myself so I haven't tryed any of this but it seams as though the cone should just unscrew with a bit of force if nessary. I don't pull it as its probably attached to the cap of the bottle - it could damage the cone or the bottle if you unscrew it.
i am quite surprised that the caps have this thread, the ones I have seen haven't got this and the cone of the lunar just sits on the top of the bottle like all Mathmos lamps.
I suggest cutting this threaded bar off as it could cause damage if the lunar fell or you need to transport it - then you can package each item indervigulie easily.
there again there may be a possibility that you have a bottle that has not got the threaded bottle, and just the cap is stuck, just a thought if you was to put the lamp on and let it run until hot it may free the cap as metal expands when heated if this dont work then indeed you must have the threaded bottle version,
I'll give it a try when I'll get the bulb and connector today, but I already tried with the hairdryer, and no luck...
I let it run hours, and cap is still stuck :-(
I'm now desperate as I have a bottle with bad flow, and I can't even have access to change the liquid because of this fu*¤ing cone stuck on it.
Please someone here tell me how the metal cap with a threaded bar is fixed on the bottle, and what can I do?
My next plan is to brake the bottle to get access from under the cone to release it!
(I told you: I'm desperate )
Don't brake the bottle - that's not really nesersery and will be very messy.
I reckon that the cone could be cross threaded so that's the reason its stuck on, - try using some gripper gloves and force to get the cone off. If you really can't get it off then consider braking the bottle - I mean since the wax is dead you don't have much to loose.
