Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Today, was my trip to Ikea day. I had two other people with me in my car. Just so you know, I drive a 2006 Ford, Crown Victoria. Same thing the police drive. We set off to Ikea which is at Potomac Mills Virginia. I live in Richmond. One way is 80 miles. Round trip is 160. We get there and start shopping. Not as crazy as it was two weeks ago. There is some question whether all the items will fit in my car. I insist all is well. We check out. We spend a total of $550 bux.

Our stuff is as follows..

4 pots
2 26x26 Pillows
8 euro pillow cases
3 packs of dvd boxes
2 packs of larger paper boxes
5 Lack side tables black/brown
5 pieces of 15" glass shelves
2 75" tall billy bookcases black/brown (weigh a ton)
2 75" tall, 15" wide glass/aluminum doors for billy bookcase
1 60" tall, 30" wide clothes rack
1 can of stain
Several infant toys
1 58" tall Expedit shelving unit black/brown

I think that's it. This stuff was HEAVY! Everything went in my trunk except the billy bookcases, doors and drying rack. That was all put in the passenger side of the car. After everything was loaded, there was only room for two people. Myself (driver) and passenger (behind driver in back). No more room. We tried squeezing in two people but it was not safe and very VERY cramped. So, I made the trip home, unloaded and you guessed it - back up to Ikea to pick up the other two passengers. I also picked up my wheels for the drying rack - forgot those :) Then we headed back home. Again. It was not bad at all. In total, I did 320 miles today for Ikea. Damn that is amazing. If only I had an SUV!

It's sweet seeing the looks on peoples faces when they see me fit all the stuff I have put in my car over the years. All the nay sayers that go "OH, THAT'S NOT GOING TO FIT!" . Then they are in shock that it does. Hehe.

Then I carved 3 pumpkins for Halloween.

Did I mention I LOVE Ikea? :D

Ikea is mad, you will always come out with random stuff. Like if you need a shelf you will end up with batteries, a glass bottle, lightshade, candles, douvet etc.
We bought the kitchen flooring there for $1.16 a square foot.... Terrific place!
Lol, yeah we go in for stuff and come out with MORE STUFF! Funny thing is, we use it all. Ikea has the coolest stuff. They also have some junk, but most of the stuff is good :)

Here is our Ikea guest room from our very first trip. Everything in the room is Ikea, except the vintage Lay-z-Boy

Lucky me. I get to go BACK to Ikea today. Found out the bookcases that were sold to us are the wrong size. Lovely. These things weigh a ton and I have already been there twice yesterday. Ugh.
Well worth the trip. That room looks cozy and comfy. I'd be happy to spend the night there.
Thanks guys. Just got back. Looks like we have the right bookcases now. Sat through 2 hours of traffic on the way up. Was terrible. Headed back was much quicker.

Yeah, I love that room. I have to get some art work on the walls and some carpets for around the bed. Those things on either side of the window, actually slide in, behind the headboard. It's really neat.
Will do. I have changed things up quite a bit and have some work in progress still going on.
Hey Kris,

I get the feeling you love Ikea...LOL, dont hate me but I have one only 10 miles away. 160 miles round trip is worth it for something you want. Anyway if your interested, a show that comes on National Geographic Channel called Ultimate Factories is going to Ikea's 3 factories to see the furniture made. The channel comes on my HD package so im not sure how available it is. The show is set to air Thursday the 5th at 7pm...here is a link with several minutes of the episode(im not sure but maybe the whole episode is available online after it airs) http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/series/ultimate-factories/454... I would grab it on my Tivo but Comcast F'ed up my cable cards again.

Ooooh.. I hate you! Hehe :)

Damnit, I hope I did not miss that show. I have National Geographic HD on Fios and I am going to go search for it now. I hope it at least airs again. This is sweet! I caught one show they did about flat pack furniture. I love Ultimate Factories. I should watch it more but it seems I am always catching the reruns and not the actual new ones.

Thanks for the tip!
Lamphead-

I found it. I missed the 8 and the repeat at 11. So the only other day is the 12th. So I set it to record that day. Damn that's a long wait. Going to see if it's on bit torrent yet.
Hey Kris its showing that episode running tonight, if my Tivo was working I could upload it to YouTube for you but Comcast took care of that. It may be online after it airs though.

Ill check the program guide here and see. It might be on regular SD tv. I don't watch that (i'm an HD snob :) )

EDIT - Ok I checked. It was late last night and I was kinda out of it. I thought yesterday was the 5th. Today is the 5th so I did not miss it. Lol. SWEET! I set to record at 8 tonight. Thanks a bunch man. I would have missed it.
